My friend wanted to eat at Purple Cane, Midvalley Mall again. There were some good lunch sets with rice available but I did not feel like eating rice so after looking through the menu a few times, I ordered "Pan Fried noodle with grouper fish slices and prawns in tea sauce" for MYR 23.90++ (0% service charge and 6% GST = MYR 27.90 nett). The portion of noodle was huge with a few slices of fish but only 2 prawns. I kept half the noodle for dinner. While the noodles are acceptable and I know slices of grouper fish and prawns are supposed to be expensive but I think I won't be ordering this dish again due to its price because to pay almost MYR 30 for just a plate of noodles with some fish slices and 2 prawns is not worth it.
The tiny deep fried anchovies were from my friend's fried rice. She did not feel like eating them because she felt their tiny eyes staring at her so I ate them for her.
Total price for 2 pax is MYR 56.80 nett.
Please click on the above photo for a bigger image. I was considering this section of the menu between the beef, lamb and fish dish and settled on the fish dish. Next time I must make a better choice.
I noticed they use different kinds of tea for their sauce
ReplyDeleteFor me, I would want to try the green curry noodles in green tea
DeleteYes they do but I can't say that I can taste the tea in their dishes. I am just not sensitive to the taste of tea.
DeleteThat looks like a very nice plate of noodles and a huge one at that too. Yes, fresh fish and prawns are rather expensive these days...and I'm like your friend - I would insist on the ikan bilis heads removed.
ReplyDeleteBut the ikan bilis is so very tiny, how to remove their heads? I just eat their heads.
DeleteReally expensive. But huge portion with that Deep fried noodle. That was how our Kuching tomato noodle looked like. Deep-fried noodle with tomato gravy.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried Kuching tomato noodle before although I know of stall in PJ that serves it.
DeleteI thought it is 0% GST?
ReplyDeleteI ate this before June 1.
Deletethat time was still with GST, so RM30 is not worth it, but now, without GST the price should be reasonable.
ReplyDeleteWithout GST, I still think the price is not worth it.
DeleteWonder if it is the same branch as in Ipoh, Purple Cane.. I have been there two times only... now I am also wondering whether it is still in business or not..
ReplyDeleteNot sure if it is the same.
DeleteMaybe when you are back in Ipoh, you can go check if it is still operating at the same location.
DeleteIt is quite a big helping of noodles. Too bad that they were so stingy with the prawns and fish slices.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any other places will give more.
DeleteAgree, might as well spend your money elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteyes I should be smarter when ordering food.
DeleteNot your fault... you couldn't have known before trying.
Deletethanks for your kind words.
