A small jug of syrup. Toppings: strawberry compote and walnuts with pumpkin and sunflower seeds scattered around them.
The hot cakes are not sweet so they go well with the syrup. Easy to eat as the portion is not big but I ate just one piece and gave the other piece to my friends.
Huevos Rancheros (Spanish - it means rancher’s eggs in English) at MYR 21+ (MYR 23.10 nett). The two eggs have runny yolks which my friend does not like so she mixed them up into the gravy.
And it turned into this. The menu says "beef chorizo" so my friend was expecting to see sausage slices but instead there were two beef meatballs with chewy bits in them (could it be minced tendons?). The sauce tastes strongly of cumin.
Mee Rebus / Jawa at MYR 13+ (MYR 14.30 nett). I tried a bit of the sauce and could not get used to it because this sauce tastes like deep fried anchovies (ikan bilis) with spicy sweet coatings.
Curry Laksa at MYR 13+ (MYR 14.30 nett). We did read a review here that says this curry laksa is nothing to shout about but we still want to try it. As I have no high expectations for curry laksa, I am ok with it. The broth has not too much of coconut milk and is only a bit spicy.
The bowl is quite big too. There are two types of shrimp - two fresh ones and a few deep fried smaller ones.
This time I ordered a glass of cold cappuccino at MYR 12+ (MYR 13.20 nett) and drank from the glass directly because I do not like to use the metal straw provided by the eatery. The other 2 hot drinks are a pot of earl grey lavender tea and a pot of osmanthus sencha tea which tastes like peach tea with vanilla taste at MYR 10+ (MYR 11 nett) each.
Total bill for 4 pax is MYR 105.60 nett and my 3 friends declare that they will no longer eat here with me because they have had enough of this type of food since this is the 2nd time we were here in a span of two weeks as we were here the previous weekend too. Taste wise, the food is not as delicious as Wild Honey or Ra.Ft but is still decent enough. The pros are the price is more affordable and the location more accessible for me. Looks like I may need to eat here again on my own.
Snitch has been here (at the Gardens mall) for a few months now but they only held an official opening ceremony on 12 June 2019 so that is why there are so many bouquets of flowers outside the eatery.
Metal straw sounds unhygienic to me. The restaurant name Snitch reminds me of Stitch, the cartoon character.
ReplyDeletemust be difficult to wash so many metal straws.
DeleteCan't remember where they are called hotcakes too, McD?
ReplyDeleteI believe you may be right here but need to check.
Deletei'm skeptical of using metal straws due to hygiene....need to ensure it is washed thoroughly as it is being used by so many people...
ReplyDeleteah, you too - like Libby feels that hygiene is an issue with metal straws.
DeleteDoesnt look like that great in this new outlet.
ReplyDeleteHotcakes. I think McD call them hotcakes too. Suppose to be warm when they are served.
price is great!
DeleteThe name Snitch is so cute and catchy.
ReplyDeleteI like to eat hotcakes too.
you can make good ones too since you do cook and bake.
DeleteI would not use the restaurant's metal straw because I am not certain if it is properly cleaned. Residue could stick to the inside part >.<
ReplyDeleteVery true because metal straws are not transparent so we cannot see the inside.
DeleteI suppose from now on we all have to get used to drinking directly from the glass. No need to use any straw.
ReplyDeleteOr we bring our own glass straws.
DeleteFood presentation is so nice.
ReplyDeletecolourful!
