Johnny Restaurant

\
My friend suggested that we eat at Johnny Restaurant at One Utama for lunch. I have been to Johnny Restaurant in Bukit Bintang Plaza many, many years ago. She ordered the prawns fried rice at MYR9.90+ (10% service charge - MYR10.90 nett) and for MYR3+ (MYR3.30 nett), added on a drink and a small bowl of tom yum soup.

Both of us shared a plate of fried kailan at MYR9.90+ (MYR10.90 nett).

I also ordered a mixed dessert shaved ice at MYR4.90+ (MYR5.40 nett) and was served the above.

After drinking most of the coconut milk (santan), I can finally see the pieces of jackfruit, attap chee (from nipa palm), red ruby (cubes of chestnuts covered by red jelly), and red beans. As usual I did not order a main meal but just ate dessert and half of the kailan vegetable and I was full.

Total price is MYR35.85 nett.

  1. Don't recall seeing Johnny anywhere at BB Plaza. Is that the red ruby Thai dessert or something? Yet to try that. Some seem to like it a lot - I'd stick to my mango sticky rice.

    1. it is a mixed dessert which includes red ruby Thai. inside the red rubies are crunchy water chestnuts.

  2. I have been to the one in Ipoh and we enjoyed the pineapple fried rice. I think the prawn fried rice should be good too. We also ordered the mix dessert.

  3. I love to eat at Johnny's for their chilly sauce that comes with the steamboat. Their service has always been surprisingly very good.

  4. I quite like this place. Some faves - steamboat (mainly coz of the sauce), the different types of fried rice and the chicken wings. Also the desserts in small portions.

  5. So you didn't take a meal other than desserts and kailan? I wish I could have this willpower to resist.. the fried rice looks good too, I thought you might end up taking half home for dinner. :) Very big portion there...
