Turmeric Glutinous Rice

Pulut Kuning Beef Rendang (Turmeric glutinous rice with beef cooked with spices and coconut milk) - MYR9.90+ 6% GST (no service charge)= MYR10.50 nett at Belanga. The small portion is just right for me and the beef rendang is tasty. I like to eat glutinous rice cooked this way too, just as I like to eat lo mai kai.

Update (28 February 2015 Sunday): price is still MYR10.50 nett with more raw vegetables (salad) this time. The beef rendang is a bit on the salty side but the glutinous rice (pulut) is a little bit too hard, I prefer it to be softer so maybe no more next time until I have forgotten about the taste. I felt too full after 2 hours that it was very uncomfortable for me.

  1. Not really used to glutinous rice cooked this way as I find them too sticky

  2. I had this at a nyonya food stall at a coffee shop near Jaya Supermarket - 1986 and I loved it so so so much! Have not come across this anywhere since. Never used pulut to cook this, just ordinary rice. Perhaps I should give it a try.

  3. hmmm,I think with this portion, it would just be a "snack" for me, I'll either have two or some other stuffs to go for it if it's going to be a proper meal for me.. hehe!!

  4. I've never seen nasi pulut and rendang served nicely plated up like this, like fine dining style. Usually a bit more messy, no? :P

  6. I can see that it's a small portion. But glutinous rice is very filling, so it's best to eat less.

  8. This looks like something we'd get from those full moon boxes too.
