The previous time that we ate at Sepiring, we did not order its signature dish so we went again just for it.
Ala carte order - Nasi Ulam Ayam Percik (Coconut Spiced Chicken with Raw vegetable salad Rice) - MYR20.90 nett (the price stated on the menu is inclusive of 6% GST and 5% Service Charge). Two of us shared this dish as it was a big portion.
The whole chicken leg above was covered with the percik (coconut spice) gravy. This gravy does not taste like the usual percik gravy that we are used to. It is richer so we get satiated faster unless we ate the chicken together with the refreshing raw vegetable salad (ulam).
The ulam consists of raw onion slices, raw four angled bean (winged bean), bird's eye chili with lime juice and herbs such as lemon grass and spices such as torch ginger (bunga kantan) so it is very appetising but I had to pick out and remove the chili because it is too spicy for me.
There were 7 pieces of keropok lekor (deep fried fish cake sticks) and kerisik (toasted grated coconut) on top of the rice so small eaters would have difficulty finishing this dish on their own. Glad that we gave this dish a try as it has more than enough ingredients for both of us.
I would have no problem polishing everything off! hee..hee...
ReplyDeleteYes I know. ;p
Deleteoooh, this Nasi Ulam Ayam Percik looks really good!! i think i won't need to share with anyone, but with such a huge portion i guess it may be a challenge for me to finish it also.. dilemma, can't share but can't finish alone!! hahaha~~ :p
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Your belly will burst soon!
DeleteCan't share and can't finish so bring a container and keep half to eat for the next meal?
DeleteBelly can expand. Won't burst.
DeleteYes, the percik looks rather pale compared to what I have seen before probably due to extra santan but it is the taste that counts. I would be perfectly ok with it being richer. On the whole, it sure looks pretty good.
ReplyDeleteBut very fast will become jelak.
DeleteI love the sound of those ingredients. Yum. :)
ReplyDeleteYou like raw vegetables?
DeleteMun, this is one of my favourite food. My usual nasi ulam comes with some keropok. The ayam percik looks good and yummy. I think I need to share with someone if I order nasi ulam plus the ayam percik.
ReplyDeleteThis gives keropok lekor instead of the usual keropok.
DeleteNom Nom! I love this type of healthy food with raw greens. I was surprised they have such huge portion, so it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteOnly the raw greens are healthy. Yes, worth it.
DeleteThe piece of chicken thigh is so inviting and the sides sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteYou like to eat ulam?
DeleteThis looks so good I wanna have a try of it too.
ReplyDeleteDo try and let us know whether or not you like it.
Deletewow..that is a lot!! Yes, need to be shared definitely... I like the lekor.. it has been a long time since I last ate one... :)
ReplyDeleteHeheheh, I know we need to share this dish.
DeleteMust be real yummy, Mun! Do you know how to cook this dish? I would love to eat! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI don't cook nowadays.
DeleteNo problem for me to "settle" this all by myself. Ayam percik and nasi ulam I still see them on and off, but I haven't seen keropok lekor in ages! Gosh!
ReplyDeleteTime for you to eat some keropok lekor. ;p
DeleteYa, the colour of the ayam percik is a bit off (paler). For me, the ayam percik should be doused in the sauce and then grilled so that you get this charred look throughout. The one here looked like the chicken was done first and the sauce poured over on top.
ReplyDeleteThis sauce is definitely poured on top but I am not sure whether or not the chicken was grilled with some other sauce or same sauce or no sauce at all since I ate only a bit of the chicken.
DeleteThe rice looks dry
ReplyDeleteNot really that dry. On top of the rice is the kerisik.
DeleteLooks good this one. Yeah better to have eating partners so that can share out the portions.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. That's why if I am alone, I just eat simple small things like bread and buns because I cannot finish large meals alone.
