*** Taman Desa Yong Tau Fu & Dessert ***
We also ordered pure fish paste yong tofu from the main shop.
10.44 am - the ytf is cooked fresh upon order so on the menu, customers can choose between pure fish paste MYR 3.50 or mixed porkfish paste MYR 2.40 for the ytf fillings. Pure fish paste is premium price MYR 1.10 more than mixed porkfish paste. The pure fish paste fillings tastes good 👍 it is soft and the texture is a bit springy. I can tell that they didn't put in any sort of flour or starch so it is genuinely all fish meat.
10.44 am - the pure fish paste is from this ikan belida which I read online got many many bones so it is easier to use the fish meat as fish paste rather than eating the fish because need to remove too many bones when eating it as a whole fish.
10.44 am - this fish is clearly stated in the menu
11 am - we ordered all the ytf with pure fish paste in soup instead of dry versions. He ordered two deep fried items with mixed porkfish paste to try: porkfish paste cake and bean curd porkfish paste fillings deep fried. He said the porkfish mixed paste has a bit of minced pork tendons in it here and there. I didn't try.
11.06 am - both of us are surprised to see all the ytf items in the soup are not fried. In many eateries, they fried the ytf items and then only put them into soup. Not fried is a healthier way of eating.
*** Three Piglets Kopitiam ***
The previous time we passed by Lol Soon Kee Desserts eatery in Taman Desa, I noticed that ah Muk Cha chaan teng eatery next to it has changed its signboard to Three Piglets Kopitiam while maintaining the same colours scheme and renovated decorations and furnishings so we went there for coffee and to check the place out.
Online says ah Muk branch at Sri Petaling has permanently closed too but there are still many ah Muk branches still operating in places such as subang jaya, Cheras, Sri kembangan and etc.
11.42 am - since we have both eaten our meals, we ordered drinks and one set of kaya butter toasts only MYR 15.85 nett.
11.42 am - since we have both eaten our meals, we ordered drinks and one set of kaya butter toasts only MYR 15.85 nett.
11.43 am - all their meals can fit on one page and all the toasts and drinks are on the back page. The sections are: big breakfast, fried rice, cheesy baked rice, cheesy baked spaghetti, chicken chop, soup noodles, mee jawa, assam laksa, nissin noodles, nasi lemak, mee siam. Maybe one day we will try the nasi lemak fried pork belly MYR 14.80+ or mee siam kampung fish MYR 16.8+
11.44 am - back page: toasts, snacks, croissants, eggs, drinks: coffee, tea, fresh fruit juice, and MYR 1+ for plain water.
11.54 am - the fish biscuits are given foc. The iced coffee is very thick Kaw kaw and somewhat bitter. I am fine drinking bitter coffee but this bitter is not the usual bitter that I am used to drinking.
12.17 noon - three Piglets Kopitiam shop front which is exactly the same as ah muk before so they just changed the name.
You like dipping biscuits in coffee? The fish biscuit swimming in coffee tickled me :D I have not eaten YTF in a while. I prefer the deep fried ones. My favorite is brinjal.
ReplyDeleteI am ok with both, dip or no dip, because I like to eat almost all biscuits in general. This shop will deep fried the ytf items when the customers choose the dry non soup version.
DeleteLOL at the fishie swimming in coffee.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer the brinjal to be fried first too.
Haha, U find it funny 🤣 too
DeleteThis shop will fry the brinjal if we select the dry option instead of the soup version. Flexible.
