DIY Big Barley Tong Sui

On Friday 4.april.2025, he chose Thong Kee Sri Petaling for brunch. We parked at pinnacle condo basement carpark and crossed the main road to thong Kee. After that I ordered wanton noodles trotter soup at Zok noodle house pinnacle. For early dinner, he cooked big barley eggs tong sui.

*** Thong Kee Sri Petaling ***

10.46 am - from thong Kee main shop, total MYR 9.75 nett with 6% sst:
1. Hot cham drink 3.3+
2. 1 portion of 2 half boiled eggs 3.6++
3. 1 curry puff 2.3++
From the Wang Zhi ipoh hor fun stall, he ordered chicken pieces with prawns hor fun MYR 13.50 nett.

10.56 am - my portion 

*** Zok noodle house pinnacle ***

11.16 am - I ordered soup wanton noodles with pork knuckle MYR 18.50++ so is MYR 21.46 nett. The unlimited pickled green chillies in the small bottle is a must. This bowl of noodles is a balanced meal because it has quite a lot of siew bok choy.

11.25 am - my portion after he has eaten all the skins of the pork knuckle and gave me all the lean meat.

*** DIY big barley eggs tong sui ***

He cooked a big pot of big barley with eggs, ginkgo aka gingko, lotus seeds, candied melon and bean curd sheets tong sui.

3.33 pm - I drank one bowl with two poached eggs in it.

He kept the remaining in the fridge.

3.48 pm - I ate the chocolate danish bought from halla Holla Midvalley kl the previous day. Very buttery.

3.48 pm - very big too for a danish pastry MYR 10+

Removed 100g water because I ate a lot of big barley which is used in TCM to treat edema 😂

  1. Barley is a diuretic and good for flushing out retained fluids. Some people eat barley grains in place of rice. I have never tried it.
