Char Siew (BBQ pork) wanton noodle (dry) with wanton dumplings (3) in a small bowl of soup at MYR 7.50 nett. Pickled green chilies are a must for this dish.
I agree with PH that the gravy/sauce for the noodles do not taste like the usual sauce but I find the taste acceptable. My friend said it tastes like it has balsamic vinegar in it and I think it could be some sort of seasoned vinegar. Both of us ruled out plum sauce as it does not taste like it has plum sauce. I also find that the taste of shallot oil is quite strong in the gravy/sauce.
Deep fried dumplings (4) - MYR 7.20 nett. A sweet chili dip is provided. They looked as though they have been refried as the colour is quite intense. The fillings taste ok, not too salty and I did not need to remove any fatty bits from the fillings as there were none.
Fried Lion Head Meatball (4) - MYR 7.20 nett. The chili dip provided is different from the sweet chili dip for the fried dumplings. This chili dip is sourish. The meatballs were definitely refried or overfried.
The meatballs are dense with lean meat with chopped onions in them. A bit dry if eaten without the chili dip. I have forgotten to try the liver and pork sausages so I will need to return on another day for them.
The price is not that expensive.

Oh my!!! The char siew looks good! I made those lionhead meatballs once and cooked as soup once, not really great - I am quite sure they are a lot nicer, deep-fried. The dip looks like what one would get when going for chicken rice - I like!
ReplyDeleteEven in soup, the lion head meatballs are deep fried before being put into the soup. Spot on about the dip.
DeleteThe dumpling and lion head meatballs were oveely fried. Dark. The char siew noodle looked good.
ReplyDeleteI think they refried them.
DeleteThe char siew noodle looked delicious! I don't like over fried dumplings or meat balls, they become dry!
ReplyDeleteVery true.
DeleteThe dumplings look quite big portion, price is very reasonable too!
ReplyDeletehehehe I have not counted how much each costs.
DeleteHmm.. now I'm really intrigue into trying the noodles just to taste how different the gravy is.
ReplyDeleteyes, do go try and let us know whether you like it or not.
DeleteAh, you finally tried it. I won't eat the wanton mee anymore as I don't like the sauce. But I will go back for the other items. The meatballs you had appeared to be burnt hah..hah...
ReplyDeleteyes but I forgot to try the sausages. :( they do look burnt don't they but luckily no burnt taste.
DeleteI like fried lion head meatball but not the overfried type
ReplyDeleteNo one wants to eat over fried food I believe.
DeleteI realised the word "Bacon" always attracted my attention. I like that Lion Head Meatballs!
ReplyDeletedo try this special sauce if you have the time and the lion head meatballs.
