Soylab Soyffle Pancake

Soylab Signature Soyffle Pancake at MYR 22 nett. There are 5 types but we ordered this one because we wanted to try the soft serve soy ice cream as well.

After reading the review here posted on April 2019, I was expecting the inside of the pancake to be wet and soggy with the centre almost raw but to my pleasant surprise, that was not the case. I guess maybe the shop also read the review and did something about it.

Compared to the two souffle pancakes that I have eaten so far, this soyffle pancake has a texture that is closer to a cake and it is sweet on its own unlike the previous two. It is moist and soft with a fine texture and more dense. I am ok with the texture but I don't like that it tastes sweet. It should be just very slightly sweet for the toppings to give it the sweetness. Now that it, itself is sweet, the toppings will make it sweeter. This pancake is made with soy and not milk.

Soy shaved ice - MYR 14 nett.

Side view. A bigger bowl would be better for me so that I don't need to be so careful to ensure that the ice does not topple over.

Currently they only have one type of soy shaved ice.

We were given 3 different types of syrup.

Brown sugar syrup, Palm sugar syrup and homemade sugar syrup. The different taste is very apparent. I prefer the taste of brown sugar syrup the most.

Follow them?

Desserts for 3 pax: MYR 43.50 nett so it is MYR 14.50 nett per pax. Not too expensive.

Soylab at Damansara Uptown, a few shops away from Molten Chocolate Cafe.

PH mentioned this Hotcake cafe in Uptown when commenting on the souffle pancakes. Thanks to her, I know exactly where it is located because she said it is near the Ship.

Their pancakes or hotcakes do look very nice from the photos.

Unfortunately the whole cafe was without any customers so it was not very inviting so I went to eat the soyffle pancakes instead.

This Hotcake is relocated from the one at Sri Petaling. Source of above photo: Hotcake fb. Posted on 4 June 2019. Same role (sic) with The Ship, Uptown. Should be row.

  1. The pancake looks good, so fluffy. No so drawn to their desserts though, not into these things.
