At long last

My friend went to Australia and bought me these because I was forever wondering how they taste like.

The caramel is too sweet for me and I could only taste a tinge of saltiness. Now I know for sure, I don't like to eat caramel because it is sticky and ends up sticking to my teeth. As can be seen from the photo above, the caramel is only available in the middle of the biscuit.

This is sweet too (oh, what do I expect, there are sweet chocolate coated biscuits afterall). Someone who ate this said that it tastes like those raspberry wafers. What can I say - our tastebuds are not sophisticated nor sensitive enough to taste the refine flavour.

9 pieces in each pack. I think my friend bought these two packs at the Melbourne airport for AUD3.90 each.

  1. You are so used to having your food with minimal sweetness that is why caramel is very sweet for you. I like Tim Tam but only those from Australia not those from Indonesia.

    1. I did not look at these but since they are sold in Melbourne airport I believe they should be from Australia.

  2. I am sweet toothed and love them all. I was quite surprised that many Arnotts were made in Indonesia and sold overseas. The quality is different and I don't know how to describe its taste. Just different.

    1. Caramel on ice cream, wouldn't the caramel becomes harden due to the cold?

  4. I think I got to try them all - got them from Australia. I did not like the later versions - the salted caramel, the coconut...and the earlier white chocolate raspberry was much nicer. My favourite would be the red velvet!

    1. What is the taste of the red part of the red velvet? Buttery taste? Strawberry taste? My friend said no red velvet available.

    1. I ate the dark chocolate ones before - also made in australia, not the indonesia ones but still find them too sweet for me. I only wanted to taste these tim tams because they cannot be found in KL - the Adriano Zumbo special tim tams.

    2. Mainly because I kept reading about how good they taste on sixthseal and stp blogs.

    3. If even the dark chocolate ones are too sweet for you, then there are no tim tams that will suit your non-sweet-tooth palate, I'm afraid.

    4. You are right. Tim Tams are not for me I guess.

  8. I have sweet tooth but cannot take one whole piece at one time... maybe cut into smaller pieces and take a small bite each time... Tim Tam is famous in Australia..

    1. These tim tams are not suitable to be cut into smaller pieces because the outer chocolate coatings will melt when you are cutting them.

  9. I also have not tried them before. I hope I also have friends who would buy them for me :( ...

I'm not sure about Tim Tams, but I freaking love McVities Caramel Chocolate, that one is the best biscuit that I have ever eaten! (I think it will be too sweet for you too)

    1. Did you eat Jaffa cakes in UK? I like to eat them, not too sweet for me with the orange jelly in between the chocolate coated biscuits.

You can always fly to Australia to try these tim tams for yourself.

    2. I have eaten McVities Chocolate before but not the caramel ones but if the caramel is sticky and will stick to my teeth then I am sure I won't like them.

    3. I have not tried Jaffa cakes, not even sure if I have seen them. Basically I had McVities in the first week since my arrival in Liverpool, and it was love in first sight (I mean bite). I never paid attention to any other biscuits after that! :D

    4. Oh dear, you must try Jaffa cakes. Cannot go to UK and not taste Jaffa cakes before. I see whether I can find them in KL. I read from a blog somewhere that Jaffa cakes are sold in one of the shops here. Every trip I come back to KL, I will bring boxes of Jaffa cakes with me.

  11. Same for me, not a fan of these sweet. Never like sticky caramel sticking to my teeth. Lol! Maybe I will just nibble on the outer chocolate coating...lol!

  12. Thanks a million Mun for all the lovely comments. I appreciate them all and enjoyed replying them as I didn't realise it made my rusty brains worked again. Along the way, I discovered some things I had forgotten to do, need to find and all the relevant issues to that blog. It was like I stirred the calm waters to life again to reactivate that blog.

Have a Happy BERSIH 4 Weekend.

  16. I finally tried the chocolate raspberry Tim tam too. Not a big fan. I find it too dry. Prefers the old dark chocolate with hot tea. Have you tried Tim tam slam before?
