Tow Kee

After our meal, we walked to the other part of the food court looking for another famous stall that serves Hakka Mee. At first we wanted to order one bowl to share among the 5 of us when we were still sitting at our table but the stall owner refused to let us take the bowl to our table which was located far away. He said that his bowl would go missing so we had no choice but to order a packet to takeaway.

Can you spot the stall with the yellow sign?

This is the famous Tow Kee Hakka Mee

Hakka Mee - MYR4 - eaten at home - soft mee. Lard lovers would love this as they use lard as oil to mix the noodle.

  3. That's the one I had - I prefer what I had on a later trip at Yi Poh:

I sat at the drink stall near the Hakka mee one so I did not have a problem ordering that and eating there. The nice lady at the drink stall ordered the beef noodles for me...and they brought it over.

No fuss over the seats either - not like at Gurney Drive in Penang - got it everytime! Will never go back there again!

  8. Luckily I read this one before replying to your reply on the previous post. I love hakka mee, but the minced pork seems lack of dark soy sauce colour compared to what I am used to.

  10. Wow, you're very good at tasting lard oil...I'm not sure if I can make the distinction (unless I see them using it, of course). All I'd know is that the oil is very flavourful.

    1. The lard taste practically blew me away each time (not in the good sense) but I can stand it so ok.

  12. Interesting bowl reason hehe. Normally they're just territorial, cannot sell to someone sitting at a table 'belonging' to competitor.

    1. Same here only can sell to tables belonging to drinks stalls. This bowl thing is a bit weird.
