The Original?

Please click on the menu for a larger photo. Need to add 5% service charge and 6% GST to the price listed on the menu. There is a choice of beef or chicken boat noodle as no pork is available here.

Two types of soup

Are you a newbie?

MYR1.90 per bowl (MYR2.11 nett) - 5 of us tried a bowl each for the taste only, not to fill us up because we planned to eat at another place for lunch. We like the spicy broth better than the non spicy broth.

We also ordered Thai Iced Tea which is orange in colour to try (MYR7.67 nett) and it was as nice as they say it was - not that milky but milky enough with a rich tea taste. Also ordered a fresh Thai coconut for the same price - MYR7.67 nett. No photos of the drinks.

MYR4.90 (MYR5.45 nett) - the chicken wings - this was how they were served. I read people singing praises of these wings so I ordered some to share.

They were tiny but very flavourful

MYR1 (MYR1.11 nett) for 2 in one serving - Ka Num Tuay, a dessert - anyone knows Thai? What does "Ka Num Tuay" mean?

The dessert is in small little saucers

Looks like kuih talam with slightly salty white coconut milk top layer and sweet sticky almost kaya-like taste brownish green bottom layer.

    2. The dessert is too small but you can order many portions.

  3. oh the boat noodles.. so you did not need to line up?! was it that you went there early, or most probably the heat was over and no one bother to go and line up?? I have not tried that though, for which I find it redundant to serve my portion into 4-5 bowls while I can have just one, and not forgetting the hassle of having so many bowls laying in front of me when I need to switch from one to another.. gimmicks that is all, that's what I thought about this thing.. the dessert looks interesting though, seems something very local and authentic to me, never tried never heard and didn't know about this thing at all, it's something new~~ :)

    1. These days some outlets do not see all the long gila queue outside anymore. Our local eating scene always fade out fast.

    2. This is in Cyberjaya, don't think there was ever a queue there.

  4. Kha Nom means Cake or dessert while Tuay means bowl. So it would sound like a Bowl Dessert. Normally when they sold this by push cart hawkers, they would pour the fillings into the metal tray with many holes like bowls. I used to eat them when I was a small kid following the maid to Songkhla's wet market.
I am surprised to see the new choice of soups from Ayutthaya and Pathumtani. Must check it out.

  9. I haven't tried boat noodles yet and since it is such a small helping, I might be eating a whole stack of bowls. I will like that dessert.

  10. Hmm...I don't know Thai but I've seen that dessert before.

There's a new boat noodles place that just opened up near my place (Encorp Strand Mall) too, been wanting to try it. So far most of the places I've been to is not as good as the ones in Thailand and the portions are wayyyy too small. You can get bigger portions in Thailand. It's such a marketing gimmick here.

    1. Now no more crowd already so can go. I think the children can just eat one bowl each.

  14. MYR4.90 is already 60Php here and I guess the portion of that chicken is too small yet as you said, it tastes good so i guess that would make it fair right?

    1. If one enjoyed eating the chicken yes it makes it worthwhile.
