Celebrating with Food

How did you spend Mother's Day? I ate two nice meals with my mother. We asked her what she would like to eat and she said deep fried oysters at Ma Maison so we went to the restaurant at One Utama for early lunch and spent nearly the whole day there.

Oyster Set (with 5 deep fried oysters) with shredded cabbage, miso soup, and brown or white rice. We chose to have brown rice. MYR33.90 (MYR35.90 after 6% GST).

Rosu Katsu Set with a promotion price of MYR21.45 (MYR22.70 after GST) - the normal price is around MYR25 before GST.

One piece Prawn - MYR10.50 (MYR11.10 after GST) with mayonnaise dip.

One piece oyster - MYR5.50 (MYR5.80 after GST)

As the four of us were small eaters and we planned to eat at other restaurants after this lunch, we do not want to go for the unlimited refills of cabbage, miso soup and rice so we ordered two sets and two singles. After we have ordered, we were reminded that because we did not order one set each, the unlimited refills were not applicable for our table.

Total bill came up to MYR86.10 after 10% service charge and 6% GST which was applied to the service charge too as per regulations.

  3. Nice! The food at Ma Maison looks good, and they serve pork too!

I was wondering about the French name as well. I've never eaten here before.

We went to a big dai chow place in Sg Buloh for our Mother's Day dinner. Had a whole fish, which was very nice. RM 195 for 6 adults and several kids, so it's considered cheap but the food was great.

Happy Mother's Day to you Mun!

  4. I don't think I've ever had a deep fried oyster. For some reason I thought Ma Maison was French?

  5. Wowwww!!! Food looks really good. Nice of you to take your mum out for a nice dinner. Mine's bedridden, can't walk for a long time now so we bought things for her instead...and the actual day is drive-my-girl-back-into-the-jungle day. :(

I loved the fried oysters at those New Zealand fish franchises - the Fish Shop, was it called? Nice...and affordable. None around here now, I think...MFM has taken over everywhere.

    1. Your mother must be very happy to get those gifts and things you got her. Was there less cars on the road when you send Melissa back on Mother's Day Sunday?

In One Utama, there is a seafood restaurant called Fish & Co. I think their food is better than MFM.

  8. must be crowded everywhere in the malls and restaurants over the weekend since everyone was bringing their mothers out to celebrate Mother's Day..

yes, it can be very filing and I remember I left with a very bloated stomach, haha!! so four sharing two plates would be nice since you are going to have something else later..
