4 changes Midvalley mall

 I noticed these 4 changes in Midvalley Mall recently.

These four shops in the same row have changed. Not sure when between 18 March 2020 till now, May 2021.

Kampung Banana Leaf and Ages Ago replaced Liang Sandwich and Awa Mee Bar. Wonder when they are scheduled to open.

Foundo Seafood has replaced Waroeng Penyet. Seems like the shops in this location often change. Awa Mee Bar used to be Souper Tang. Perhaps it is due to being on the top most floor of Midvalley Mall.

Sister Wei Desserts used to be Tong Yat Sum, also a dessert tong sui soup. Let us see how long they will stay this time with the dine in, no dine in, on and off.

We did our weekly grocery buying as fast as we could for 1 hour and by the time we have have completed, we were famished. Since we took the risk for our latest 3 dine ins we decided not to anymore so we ordered takeaway from Mask Chee Midvalley Mall using food panda app for a pickup Discount and also for convenience, no need to wait while the food is being prepared.

Bought 6 items for over one hundred and after the pickup discount, the price is MYR 88.05 nett. We ordered at 1140 and picked up at 1220. Very fast.

The food. Tasty, downside is I get 4 more containers. We like both the dumplings and Wantons so bought both, small portions.

A large portion of beef brisket and tendons. Can eat for more than one meal.

They included 3 small tubs of pickled green chilies, 3 tubs of soup where 1 tub is not in the photo and a tub of oyster sauce for the Kai lan vegetables which we didn't use. Lucky for me that they didn't pour the oyster sauce onto the Kailan vegetables because I don't like that.

A bottle of milk tea which is very milky so he couldn't drink it. I bought the wrong drink, should buy ying yong which is milk mix coffee. The clear drink bottle 500 to 600 ml is in the photo for size comparison. So no more dine in. Hopefully everyone knows how to stay safe. No talking is the key.

Another Fried Chicken

Full Want at the Gardens mall is now closed and will be replaced by a money changer and Fat Daddy fried chicken from Taiwan.

Full Want occupied two shop lots and used to be located between KoHyang and MyNews stores.

Oden FamilyMart

 

FamilyMart was having 25% off its Oden so we bought some oden as snacks. We find the crabstick to be worth buying again as it has two different textures whereas the rest can be found in other eateries as fish balls or other processed food.

I bought the Strawberry Softserve cup because the familymart app promo takes MYR 1 off but because the strawberry sauce is out of stock, this tastes just like a big softserve cone and it was too much for me so if I knew beforehand that the strawberry sauce is not available, I would not have ordered this because it was an ordeal to eat so much softserve ice cream at one go.

 

Total bill is MYR 10.20 nett which is a good price because the oden are expensive without 25% off. Another good thing is FamilyMart accepts credit card payment.

 

We noticed that Old Town White Coffee at Midvalley Mall has been replaced by this eatery named Sek Tong with the tagline "Dine in the 70's" so I wonder what food it will be serving.

 

 Waroeng Penyet at Midvalley Mall seems to have a queue during lunch afterall.

Set lunch menu from Zok Noodle House, Midvalley Mall which includes a cup of coffee at MYR 14.95 nett. The broth tastes sweet which I think is too sweet for a bowl of savoury pork noodle.

 

Credit card payment is accepted.

 

Saw this jade earrings on a poster. Do you think they are pretty or too big?

New drink stall from Australia is in Gardens Mall since Dec 2019. Instead of bubble tea, it serves rice in yogurt drinks. My friend says the purple rice in yogurt drink is very tasty but I could not bring myself to try it yet. You can read more about this drink stall at this url.

WG One Utama

 Yesterday I was at One Utama and their CNY Decor is only ready on 8 Jan 2020 with the theme "Wishes Fulfilled, Happiness Abounds".

The area is cordoned off.

Nam Heong is now opened in One Utama.

I requested for no teriyaki sauce for the salmon teriyaki set at MYR 28++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 32.48 nett). Kept half for dinner.

Lunch at Robatayaki, One Utama. Both of us ordered the same set.

WG Hoagies

Today is the last day of 2019. Anyone feeling sad that 2019 will be over soon?

Pop Pizza is a new eatery in Midvalley Mall that occupies the shop unit that used to house Speedy Video. This article states that Speedy Video closed its outlet in Midvalley Mall on Sunday, 15 Sept 2019.

Ori Udon at the Gardens Mall which I have eaten a meal there once in 2014 has been replaced by Lucky Mala Noodle which has a similar concept to Hotpot Kitchen in Midvalley Mall where customers select raw ingredients and pass it to the kitchen to be stir fried with a choice of spicy sauce that ranges from less spicy to very spicy. My friends considered eating lunch here but I asked them to go ahead while I eat at another place because I don't like having any of their sauces so my friends very kindly say that they will accompany me instead and did not eat lunch at this new eatery.

Jonker Sweets Dessert at the Gardens Mall has been replaced by this kiosk selling kuih lapis. I tried a tiny piece and found it to be very sweet so I did not buy any.

The name is Ambon Boenda.

Whenever we are at Midvalley Mall before 10 am, we will walk around looking for breakfast and one day we saw this signboard but we did not eat here because we have to pay extra for drinks that do not have attractive prices.

Lunch at Hoagies, The Gardens Mall.

Finally I tried the food at Hoagies, The Gardens Mall after walking away from "Lucky Mala Noodle" to have this lunch set with drinks included for the price of MYR 19.90+ (10% service charge) which is MYR 21.90 nett.

My friends ordered the same dish - sweet and sour chicken baked rice to find that there is a layer of cheese underneath the sweet and sour chicken for MYR 21.90 nett.

I ordered the NYC Hoagies set lunch. Very tasty iced lemon passion fruit drink with passion fruit pulps and a slice of lemon in the drink. My friend asked for hot water to be added to her drink and they obliged so service is good. The beef slices in my sandwich is not as tender as I would have like them to be but overall I like this sandwich because there are many slices of red and green capsicum in the sandwich. I think this set lunch is value for money due to the nice drink and crispy fresh salad with black olives.

Total price for 3 pax is MYR 65.65 nett.

Is life like a box of donuts to you?

Since there is a promo by a telco service provider to get 3 free donuts when one buys 3 donuts, I selected the following flavours:
- coffee cinnamon
- almond flakes
- choc nuts
- peanut butter jam
- strawberry fillings
- blueberry fillings
Each donut costs MYR 3.30+ (6% SST = MYR 3.50 nett) so 3 donuts cost MYR 10.50 nett and due to the promo, I get 6 donuts which means 1 donut is MYR 1.75 nett which is half price which is a good deal.

Total price for 6 donuts from Dunkin' Donuts: MYR 10.50 nett.

Fire Tiger Santan

 Fire Tiger is now open in Midvalley Mall after having occupied the shop lot vacated by Nyonya Leaf.

 Only two types of drink are sold: Fire Tiger Milk and Fire Tiger Milk Tea at MYR 14.90 nett each.

 Customers collect their drinks through thisbig sculpture. What a gimmick!

 Santan eatery serving an airline inflight meals is now open. The price of the food is lower than in the airport. This shop lot used to house Ali Baba and Nyonya eatery which I have visited a few times at Midvalley Mall.

Childhood and Beauty

This kiosk at the Gardens Mall sells all sorts of items from the childhood of those born in the 1960s. I believe it is an outlet of a similar kiosk in MyTown Mall.

Beauty in a Pot steamboat has opened for business in the Gardens Mall. It is located next to Rakuzen. I wonder who chose the colour scheme and do the branch in Genting Highlands and the main store in Sg use this colour scheme as well.

The soft opening was on 8 Nov 2019 (Friday).

Bye Nyonya Leaf

One day when we were at Midvalley Mall, we wanted to eat Nasi Lemak at Nyonya Leaf so we walked there and to our horror, the shop lot was all boarded up. Nyonya Leaf was located opposite Bee'ing and next to Aeon Big and a money changer.

Fire Tiger by Seoulcial Club is taking over the shop lot. Online search reveals that this is a bubble tea shop from Bangkok. Let's see how it looks like later when it opens for business.
