WG Wake Me Up Cafe

My friend's burger at MYR 18.80 nett. The fries look tempting!

Not my chicken teriyaki rice at MYR 15.80 nett and peppermint organic tea at MYR 6 nett. My friend's comment is that the chicken is drowning in teriyaki sauce and so is the rice.

I was having a runny nose so I preferred hot and soupy food. Luckily for me, this cafe serves chicken and prawn hor fun in soup at MYR 9.80 nett. Decent enough except that the soup is rather oily. Can you see the layer of oil on top of the soup?

I did not have photos of the other dishes such as pork chop rice and pork and mushroom pasta.

Nice decor. They even have a pot of nga ku plant (Arrowhead plant) on their counter.

Clean and quiet place for lunch with good coffee.

Lechon Kawali

Philippines Cuisine is now available at Popcorn Food Court, Midvalley Mall so we tried the food there. We ordered the Lechon Kawali Set at MYR 12.90 nett. Lechon Kawali is crispy pan fried pork belly. The pork rind is crunchy. We also had BBQ Pork at MYR 7.90 nett. I am fine with the food.

Semper Kitchen at PopCorn Food Court, Midvalley.

Semper Kitchen's stall is in between Kim Zen and the mixed rice (chap fan) stall.

WG Strangers at 47

Both my friends ordered this nasi lemak crepe at MYR 21+  (6% SST = MYR 22.26 nett). Basically it is just nasi lemak chicken with a sunny side up egg and rice wrapped in a savoury crepe.

All the savoury dishes here are items wrapped in a savoury crepe so I decided to just eat dessert for lunch. My order: Chocolate crepe with dark chocolate spread fillings and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for MYR 11+ (MYR 11.66 nett).

Total price for 3 pax: MYR 56.20 nett. An average of about MYR 18.73 per pax which means the crepes dishes are not budget eats.

Storefront

Strangers at 47, PJ occupies two shop units. I believe this is a place to visit for a cup of good coffee.

As we visited this cafe during the CNY period, they have this CNY special crepe made of oranges and mandarin oranges. There is also a lunch set menu applicable from 11 am to 2.30 pm. As all three of us do not feel like eating one whole spicy cajun chicken leg, none of us ordered the lunch set items.

Please click on the above photo for a larger image. Would you order any of the above savoury crepe dishes?

WG Little Cravings

My friends wanted to eat at Nyonya Colors (old wing), One Utama but the car was parked at the new wing so we went to eat at Little Cravings (new wing) instead because both eateries are from the same company.

Top Shelf: Radish Cake (MYR 3.55), Steamed Chocolate Cake (MYR 3.40), Egg Sponge Cake (MYR 3.60), Cream Puff (MYR 5.50)..

Please click on the above photo for a larger image. Ondeh-ondeh (MYR 3.10),

Ketayap (MYR 2.70), Koswee (MYR 3.30). Koswee is similar to Put Chai Ko.

Kueh Bakar (MYR 2.80), Koswee Masin (MYR 3.30). Koswee Masin is simiilar to savoury Put Chai Ko with preserved radish - Chai Poh (菜脯) on top.

Dodol Gula Melaka (MYR 3.85).

Please click on the above photo for a larger image. Kochi Pulut Hitam (MYR 1.35), Lepat Pisang (MYR 1.40), Lepat Ubi (MYR 1.40). The last unlabeled item on the right is Kochi Nyonya which I have eaten and shown here.

Please click on the above photo for a larger image. Otak-otak (MYR 2.85), Kochi Santan (MYR 1.40) which I have also eaten and shown here, Pulut Inti (MYR 1.55) Pulut Sambal (MYR 1.60), Pulut Panggang (MYR 1.45).

In the end, I bought 7 items - ate 4 items during lunch and was full so I kept 3 items for the evening. I ate the sago rose and talam cendol without remembering to take close up photos. The Talam Cendol tastes of gula melaka.

Pulut Sambal - the sambal is not very spicy. The glutinous rice is soft yet a bit springy.

Otak-otak (savoury) on a daun kaduk (Piper sarmentosum) before being wrapped in a banana leaf.

Cross section (Otak Otak).

The following 3 items are eaten in the evening.

Lepat Ubi - sticky and sweet with a strong brown sugar taste. Luckily my friend ate half to save me from the heavy sweetness.

Kochi Pulut Hitam - strong taste of pulut hitam which I like.

Pulut Panggang (savoury). The dried shrimps coconut flakes filling is not that spicy so I can buy this to eat again.

Spent MYR 10.60 nett just for these 7 items.

Madam Kwan

Lotus Root Mix Vegetables StirFry - MYR 18.88++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 21.90 nett). The lotus root is very crunchy.

Curry Chicken (4 pieces) - MYR 21.47++ (MYR 24.90 nett). The curry is rich with coconut milk (santan) taste.

Nasi Bojari - MYR 25.78++ (MYR 29.90 nett). Beef rendang, one whole chicken leg deep fried and prawn onion sambal. Flavourful and can fill two small eaters.

I did not take photo of the Nasi Lemak. Total bill is MYR 215.95 nett for 7 dishes at Madam Kwan's restaurant, Pavilion mall. We only eat here for special occasions.

On this day, the food delivery vehicle from the centralised kitchen was delayed so we had to wait for quite a while for their signature dishes like Nasi Bojari and Nasi Lemak. We were advised that dishes such as stir fry char kway teow or stir fry vegetables are available because these dishes are cooked on the spot and are not prepared in the centralised kitchen. Guess it will be another 1 year or more before we will eat here again.

Mee Pok

Signature Mee Pok (MYR 8.50 nett). The mee pok is tossed in lard oil and there are many pieces of deep fried lard on top of the noodles.

Hainan Tea at MYR 4.20 nett. Stir Fried Fish Noodles and Chee Cheong Fun at MYR 8.90 nett which I find to be a little too wet. The only saving grace is that there are as much crunchy beansprouts as there are noodles.

Total price: MYR 21.60 nett for two pax for breakfast at about 9.30 am.

Since it was still 2019 CNY day 13, the two red lanterns were still up at House of Fishball, Sri Petaling. Seems like business is enough because they are still here after more than 3 years.
