Yat Yat Heong Braised Duck OKR

On Thursday 31.oct.2024, we went to Taman Desa because it is a public holiday so roadside local council parking spaces would be available. Ate at ah Muk and Yit Cha Kaw Kaw. Then bought braised duck and assorted braised items from Yat Yat Heong Braised Duck OKR for his early dinner.

Mr. Wu eatery is now open for business at Taman Desa.

10.22 am - he ordered la mian pork chop in herbal soup MYR 18.90+ and when it was sent to our table, we looked at the white soup in dismay because white soup usually means it has milk in it. 

Sure enough he drank a bit of the soup and said, yes, can taste the milk so I had to eat his bowl of milk herbal soup la mian. I asked the cashier and he confirmed that there is milk in the herbal soup. I have never encountered milk in herbal soup else I would have asked before ordering and requested for no milk.

The pork chop seems to be from the cheeks or neck part because the meat seems to have chewy tendons integrated in them like neck meat.

10.24 am - my order of macaroni chicken chop egg tomato soup MYR 14.90+

He ate the chicken chop and a bit of macaroni and egg. I ate all the remaining macaroni and egg.

10.17 am - my iced coffee without sugar without milk MYR 4.90+ and his char siew pastry MYR 3.90+ which he ate the fillings and half the pastry skin and I ate the remaining pastry skin which I can taste the lard being used to make the pastry skin.

Total MYR 46.85 nett.

11.59 am - braised duck breast meat, livers, gizzards, small intestines, tofu, egg, salty vege MYR 26 nett. Then I bought one duck leg MYR 12 nett so all the braised items in the above photo cost MYR 38 nett without rice.

Yummy Salmon

On Wednesday 30.oct.2024, we went for a 33fun date to Pavilion Bukit Jalil from 9.34 am to 3.48 pm MYR 7 nett parking fees.

11 am to 2 pm 3 hours at K11 MYR 22++ X2 eq MYR 51.90 nett.

2.47 pm - my order of steak, salmon, prawns set MYR 52++ with medium cooked steak. This small amount of steak is really suitable for me to just have a taste of good steak.

I like the above dish at Tokyo Teppan when I ate it at Pavilion KL on wed 16oct2024 so I specifically went to the branch in pavilion Bukit Jalil to eat the same dish.

2.36 pm - they serve plain white rice at this branch instead of fried rice. I like the variety of side dishes in this set meal. MYR 52++

Eating grilled salmon with rice is so very delicious 😋 🤤 😋 🤤 

I think I will eat this dish once every two months.

2.36 pm - I ordered this salmon set for him MYR 35++ but he says he can detect cooked butter taste in the stir fried cabbage bean sprouts so I had to eat his portion as well. We shared a bowl of rice and I brought one bowl of rice back in my container and put it into the freezer immediately when I got home.

3.26 pm - total MYR 100.90 nett.

After this early dinner, he wanted to try the cendol ice dessert at the food court inside the food merchant supermarket but the cashier of the eatery kiosk says the person who prepares the cendol is not available so cendol is not available.

Kamquat is still out of stock at Gong Pear kiosk but the cashier says they have it on weekends but we seldom visit PBJ during weekends.

On Tuesday 29.oct.2024, went to 3 eateries:

I chose to eat brunch at Goon Wah because Soon Lei fish noodles soup does not have yam anymore as part of the dish so I wanted to see whether or not yam is still available in Goon Wah's fish noodles soup. He wanted to go to Golden Chopstick but was ok to go to Goon Wah after I told him about it.

9.52 am - Kong nam noodles MYR 15 with lots of vegetables so it is good value for money. The sang mee is quite similar to yimi. Flavourful with just the right level of saltiness so I like the taste.

9.54 am - a small claypot of fish head thin mihun without milk in the soup MYR 18.50 and yes, yam sticks are still available in the soup. I prefer the soup to be less salty.

9.48 am - I ordered this iced pak zi chou drink and this bowl of hot longan white fungus tong sui total for both items MYR 6 so for all 4 items the grand total price is MYR 39.50 nett with card payment. Just slightly sweet so is tasty.

10.39 am - this Goon Wah eatery is located a few shops away from Soon Lei eatery in Kuchai Jaya.

After this brunch, we went to Canton-z to buy takeaway siew yuk for his early dinner but the local council is putting fresh tar bitumen on the road exactly in front of this eatery. With such a strong bitumen smell, I didn't queue up to buy but walked away. Then we went to Golden Chopstick eatery for the siew yuk.

11.06 am - he bought 3 chapfan dishes: broccoli, lohon chye, omelette with a glass of iced cham drink MYR 7 for both items and a plate of siew yuk MYR 10 nett.

11.54 am - outside Golden Chopstick, there is a stall selling fruits so I bought 4 packs at MYR 2.50 each and ate them all when I got home. He just ate a bit of each.  At 1 pm, I completed my omad

On Monday 28.oct.2024, went to Ming Hin ssg for brunch.

9.36 am - he ordered mixed meat innards mihun soup and top up to add more livers in it with a cup of hot cham drink. Free 4 soft boiled eggs from the ongoing weekdays 8 am to 10 am promo.

9.40 am - luncheon meat eggs toasts which fulfill the taste of a bit of luncheon meat once in a while without having to eat a whole can of it. We shared all the food except for the soft boiled eggs. 

I completed my omad with this brunch at 10 am.

2 pm to 3 pm - I used these two brushes and squatted to scrub the 4 feet x 6 feet floor of the shower cubicle for exercise.

Sweet Crispy Taro

On Sunday 27.oct.2024, woke up at 4 ish and went to Midvalley Mall at about 8 am since Oriental Kopi Midvalley Mall is already opened at 8 am. I planned to eat mixed vege with yam soup at Purple Cane eatery after oriental Kopi but the purple cane set lunch is not available during weekends so we went to eat sweet crispy taro at Canton-i. The ALA carte mixed vege yam hotpot soup is about MYR 62 so he doesn't want to order it.

11.19 am - sweet crispy taro cubes MYR 12.90++ which taste good even without the outer sugar crust. As we don't want to eat so much sugar crusts, we removed them before eating the taro cubes.

11.29 am - the amount of sugar crusts removed.

11.12 am - wonton soup no noodles MYR 18.90++ with 6 wontons with big prawns in them as fillings. The soup is clear soup unlike Nanyang Cafe which uses bone broth soup.

11.23 am - salted egg yolks in meat balls MYR 12.90++ which are tasty. I remember Canton kitchen has this item too.

11.07 am - my order iced milk red bean MYR 12.90++ which uses good quality non sweet milk. There are a lot of semi red beans paste which is quite sticky and I like the taste of this drink. Is refreshing.

Total is MYR 76.10 nett inclusive of 2 wet towels MYR 1++ each.

11.49 am - we saw the taro dish on this advert stand banner outside this eatery that made us decide to eat this dish.

12.27 noon - we walked around Midvalley Mall to walk off the sugar that we have consumed earlier and then saw some people eating Family Mart Sofuto so we bought one Cacao Chocolate Sofuto cone MYR 3.90 nett to share as he can only eat this Sofuto which has no milk in it.

8.20 am - my favourite kaya salted butter toasts which taste like kuih kapit because it is crispy with strong flavourful coconut taste. The salted butter may look thick but it is just a small piece so I don't feel too buttery but just right.

8.18 am - our favourite mihun chicken pieces to share.

8.17 am - two soft boiled eggs ala carte for him. No breakfast set during weekends. Total MYR 39.65 nett.

8.13 am - early at 8 am, can still walk in without queuing.

1.43 pm - he ordered fruits rojak MYR 11.90+ and a glass of hot cham less sweet drink MYR 5.90+ to share with me. Total MYR 18.85 nett.

9.39 am - audio video show 2024 at gardens mall. Entry fees about MYR 10 I heard. We didn't visit it.

9.35 am - went to the garden outside book xcess gardens mall to enjoy the garden and water ⛲ fountain.
