I bought this tub of pineapple rolls from Giant supermarket for about MYR 13 or more but less than MYR 19.

Taste ok.

He bought lunch for himself and the Elderlies from a chapfan stall under a shed about opposite Lucky Alley coffee shop. I bought ABC soup MYR 10, 4 sets of brinjal and bitter gourd ytf MYR 16 and wanton noodles soup MYR 8.5 for the elderly's lunch from lucky Alley coffee shop.

3 packs of dinner chapfan for the elderlies and himself from 126 mixed rice Sri Petaling.

Knuckle meat from Friday to eat for lunch and dinner on this day.

CNY is near

On Tuesday 4.jan.22, we went out to buy bread for the Elderlies so we bought our food as well from Swee Heng coffee shop. He wanted another tub of pineapple tarts for CNY so I bought one tub from Swee Heng coffee shop.

2 pm - there are 6 layers of 9 pineapple tarts. He ate one tart and say he could taste the milk so he doesn't want to eat it. Guess I would have to buy another tub from the stall outside Sepetang coffee shop for him. Hopefully the baker didn't change the recipe so that the taste is still acceptable to him.

The 7th layer that is right at the top consists of only 5 tarts so the total tarts is 6x9 plus 5 equal 59 tarts.

Pineapple tarts again! This time they are open faced tarts.

Received them on Saturday 6.mar.21 after ordering and paying for them about 5 days before.

I ordered 3 tubs. Each tub has 50 pieces and costs MYR 35 Nett only. Very affordable. I couldn't eat so many pieces so I gave one tub to my friend and contacted PH via FB to give one tub to her as I was going to uptown on Monday 8.mar.21 so we did a quick food exchange at Starling Mall. She gave me very healthy snacks of Amazing Graze which suited me very well. You can read her review of these tarts at her blog in this post.

The Yong Sheng pineapple logs have added pineapple fragrance whereas the pineapple open faced tarts have authentic pineapple taste only.

I ordered them from insta seller Azni after reading this fantastic review about the tarts on insta. Not sure where Azni got her supply from. Delivery fees to my area is MYR 10 nett.

Later I read the comments about TartTokAbah on insta and found some photos under this hashtag which look similar. They are on fb too. I wonder did the insta seller got her stock from this place? I can only wonder because I don't intend to ask. I still have about 28 tarts in the fridge as at this point in time. Will slowly savour them.

Mika Pineapple Pastry

Back in 2016 and 2018, I bought pineapple pastry from Mika Gift Shop so when I noticed that they are on shopee, I bought 2 sets of 2 containers of pineapple pastry in a box online to be delivered from Johor to kl.

Placed my order online on Monday and received them on Thursday at around 8.20 pm. The service is good. I am amazed at how hard the delivery specialists work to get our parcels to us in a timely manner.

I received two sets of these two containers in good order. No dents.

This set is for my own consumption. Pineapple rolls and pineapple balls.

This set I gave to my friend. Her review is that the pastry is powdery with a slight eggy taste as they brush egg on the pastries to give the golden colour. She said that the jam fillings are not as good as the home made fibrous jam fillings of these pineapple balls.

I ate some pineapple rolls and I agree that the pineapple jam fillings are not as good as the homemade ones because this pineapple filling is more gooey and sweet with almost no pineapple fibers and not sourish.

one container of pineapple rolls look like this so I kept it for myself and ate 80% of them. Seems like this container experienced some rough handling before it was packed because the other containers have intact contents. If the parcel has been roughly handled then all the 4 containers should have content looking like this. I kind of expected this so I was fine with it. Still edible.

Total price for 4 containers of pineapple pastry from Mika inclusive of delivery fees all the way from Johor is MYR 130.26 which means on average, it is about MYR 32.55 per container. The Yong Sheng entry above is 4 containers of assorted cookies that I bought for my friend.

Pineapple Balls

On Thursday 7.1.21, I received this red paper bag with two containers of pineapple pastries.

Looks good. They are a treat from my brother. He bought them at MYR 38 per tub, 2 for MYR 70 Nett.

Overturn it. I gave one tub to my mother and they have eaten all the pineapple balls in that tub. I still have half a tub remaining in my fridge at this point in time of wed 3.1.21 which is 9 days away from CNY. Mco has been extended to 18.2.21 so everyone please celebrate CNY 12.2.21 online and stay safe at home!

The selling point of this pastry is the genuine fibrous pineapple jam fillings. The pastry is soft and taste very milky.

For this batch, the pastry is a bit too moist so it stuck to the paper. Feedback to seller and seller offers replacement but as they are fine to be eaten, we say there is no need for replacement.

The seller sent us the above photo to say that normal batches look like the above. Not overly moist.

Still Staying Home

These small and cute pineapple jam biscuits are good treats for us so we will buy a small pre-packed portion from Aeon Supermarket but if you want more, you can just scoop more from the big container. The price is by weight - MYR 2.99 for 100 g. This pre-packed portion costs MYR 3.41 nett so can you guess how many biscuits there are in the bag?

18 biscuits only so that means it is MYR 0.189 nett per biscuit.

*** Fridat 14 August 2020 d150 ***

9.47 am - Did not go out and did not order delivery so we just have to eat what we can find in the house. Breakfast of sausage, eggs and little gem lettuce, eaten with gardenia wholemeal bread.

10.45 am - my portion. I ate the above with 2 slices of gardenia wholemeal bread and 2 slices of 7 grains sprouted bread.

12.40 noon - both of us shared this reheated dry 3jc mee hoon mix hor fun bought yesterday for MYR 6.50 nett from new phoenix shop. At 4 pm, I ate 3 slices of gardenia whole meal bread with chivers orange marmalade jam because I am the only one eating this jam since the comment is that this jam is no where close to St Dalfour orange marmalade jam and one Navel orange so that is dinner for me.

5.53 pm - not my dinner of the one and only remaining air dried vit's broad noodles with bok choy, egg and sausage. I just ate one scoop of the noodles and 2 strands of bok choy to test the taste. The noodles are not soft enough for me despite he told me that he cooked it for a long time so I won't buy this broad noodle again, will just stick to air dried vit's narrow instant noodles.

WG Pineapple Tarts 2020

 3 dishes (half chicken, potatoes and pork stirfry, sweet potatoes leaves), 5 bowls of rice and 2 barley drinks cost MYR 65 nett at Ping Wah eatery, Paramount Garden, PJ.

 My lunch: MYR 12.20 nett - a bit of chicken,  a bit of potatoes and pork, and more sweet potatoes leaves.

 After our lunch, my friend stopped by O&S coffee shop to buy a pack of guava so I bought 5 deep fried cempedak for MYR 7 nett. 7 deep fried cempedak cost MYR 10 nett so it is cheaper per cempedak to buy 5 instead of 7.

 Bought these two containers of pineapple tarts from a makeshift stall in O&S coffee shop. The pineapple rolls are made from SCS  butter whereas the flower pineapple tarts are made from margarine

 2 deep fried rice cake sweet potatoes fritters, 2 coconut banana balls and 1 deep fried sweet potatoes for MYR 5 nett because it is MYR 1 nett per item.

Tupperware CNY gift set at MYR 51 nett with 2 Tupperware containers filled with biscuits inside.

SunnyHills

I have heard a lot about SunnyHills pineapple tarts but have yet to taste any until my friend gave me two pieces. They are from Taiwan and are sold in SG too but not here.

They are different in shape when compared to Chiate pineapple tarts.

I find it as tasty as Chiate pineapple tarts.
