This is the last post for the year and I end it with 江南麵 (Kong Nam Mee). I am guessing that this noodle originated from 江南 (Kong Nam / Jiang Nan) hence its name.
I have fulfilled my own goal of a post a day for the year 2014 so for the new year, I am going to relax a bit so it will be as and when I feel like writing a post, you will see a post. :)
To everyone, thank you for writing comments on my blog for this year. I truly appreciate it and look forward to reading your comments.
MYR10 for 1 pax with lots of mushrooms, vegetables, prawns, squid and half a century egg on top of deep fried noodle.

Coffee Tiramisu Waffle
Coffee Tiramisu Waffle - MYR16 - prices are nett
The plate is too big?
Flat white - MYR10.50 - very rich taste.
A must try for those with a sweet tooth. Without ice cream and cream, a piece of waffle is about MYR6 something. I find it a tad too sweet.
It is located at the top floor of Midvalley, the mezzanine floor above the cinema. The seating area is beside the walkway.
It is just a stall beside the corridor - Madame Waffle

Fish Panini
Finally tried this Fish Panini MYR14.90++ (MYR15.80). Tasty but I prefer the fish to be a bit less salty.
We get to choose from 3 types of Panini - Parmesan Oregano, Oatmeal and Italian and you can tell which one I selected.
Bought this from Vivo at The Curve

Brussels sprout
I have been searching for an affordable Christmas meal with Brussels sprout because it would not feel like a Christmas meal without them. Then I found it.
Turkey, Cranberry Sauce, Brussels sprouts (only 3 green balls), Baby Carrots, Baby Tomatoes, Sugar Snap Peas. The Brussels sprouts taste exactly like how I remember them to be. Nice!
As this is a set meal, I get a slice of garlic bread and pumpkin soup before the main dish.
I am lucky that dessert is just a thin slice of fruit cake - buttery with alcohol taste - or else I would be too full. Best of all this set meal only costs me MYR25 nett at Reggae Mansion KL.
Interior
Christmas tree made of green beer bottles
There is a nice internal courtyard if you prefer to sit under the sky. It has a glass roof so you won't be drenched when it rains.

A Question for you
Please refer to the diagram above. A long queue of people (black dots) coming from A is going to get on to the escalator (pink colour). A person B wants to get on to the escalator and B comes from the green dots area so B stands right next to the escalator and patiently squeezes onto the escalator bypassing the endless queue of people coming from A.
The question is:
Did B just cut queue (is B expected to walk towards A and try to find the end of the line - there may be no end as more and more people are walking from A towards the escalator)?

Fruit is best
I don't usually buy cherries because they are expensive. Then I figure instead of spending a huge amount of money eating lots of sinful food during this festive season, why don't I buy some cherries. So I bought a packet of 500gm of cherries at a discounted price of MYR24.90 (normal price is MYR29.90). I am aware that some night markets sell cherries at a cheaper price but I seldom go to night markets.
I can just continue popping them into my mouth non stop. What is your favourite fruit that you can't stop eating once you start?

MyNasi
Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken Leg - MYR10.90++ and add on a fried yellowtail scad (ikan selar kuning) for MYR2.50++. The pyramid shaped rice is made from scooping the rice with a pyramid shaped scoop with a long handle (not a pyramid shaped bowl but a scoop).
The rice tastes of coconut milk and I can't detect any fragrance of pandan leaves. The sambal is on the sweet side. The fried chicken leg alone costs MYR6.80 as an add on if you choose to order another one.
Teh Tarik - MYR3.60++ for a small cup.
Place your order at the counter and pay before your order gets delivered to you. There is a breakfast set menu from 8am to 12noon where items cost about MYR6.90++ and you need to top up MYR1 for either a coffee o or teh o. We did not order from the breakfast menu because we wanted to try the fried chicken leg which is not on the breakfast menu.
Nice decor
Located at LG of Midvalley Megamall. Used to be Kungfu Paradise but changed to MyNasi which is still under the same company as Kungfu Paradise.

DongZhi Festival
Here's wishing everyone who celebrates Dong Zhi (冬至) Festival, a very happy winter solstice!
We celebrated this festival by eating red bean tong sui (sweet soup) with tong yuen (glutinous rice balls) at my mother's place one day earlier.

Sake Oyakodon
Sake Oyakodon (Salmon and Salmon Roe on top of rice). Oyako means 'parent and child' so salmon is the parent and salmon roe is the child. Normally Oyakodon without the word Sake (salmon) in front serves you chicken (parent) and egg (child) on top of rice.
This is the Sake Oyakodon set - MYR30++ - with a starter, chawan mushi, miso soup and fruits apart from the main sake oyakodon.
Sushi and Tempura set - MYR38 - with the same starter, chawan mushi, miso soup, pickled vegetable, in addition to the main tempura and sushi.
Close up of the starter-of-the-day - some sort of fried fish stewed in a sweet miso gravy. Strong flavour.
Close up of the sushi served - tuna, salmon, squid, prawn, crab, tamago, scallop. The size of the sushi is rather small compared to those I ate in Tokyo but it is fresh and tastes naturally sweet so it is fine for me since I find the price reasonable too.
Where else but at our favourite Japanese restaurant, Kura at One World Hotel.

Tong Sui
Tong Sui in Cantonese literally means Sweet Water. Red bean and barley in evaporated milk - MYR4.80 - my friend did not quite like this.
White Fungus and Lotus Seed - MYR4.80 - both white fungus and lotus seeds are hard. Not going to eat at this random restaurant in Berjaya Times Square again.

Hakka Pounded Tea Pan Mee
I noticed a place selling Hakka Lei Char (green vegetables tea) Pan Mee - MYR12.90 so I ordered it to try. I really like it because I like the taste of the Thai basil, mint and coriander among many other herbs.

Why is there an exercise book here?
So cute with a bicycle and environmental friendly since it is made from recycled material.
It is the menu!
Noodle Shack at Ikano. Available in One Utama too.

Marvellous Egg Co
I saw this new food booth at the top floor of the MidValley mall and so walked closer for a look.
Egg sticks! The price is expensive - from MYR5 to MYR8 for just one egg stick. I remember reading a post on kuchingnite blogspot about cooking eggs into a stick with Eggmaster. So now these egg sticks are being sold commercially.
They claim that their dips will win you over. Please click on both the above menu photos for a larger photo.
What are they selling?

They cut up one egg stick into many pieces and gave them out for customers to sample their food. I took one - salmon black pepper with egg. The taste is nice as I like both salmon and egg but I find it too expensive. Perhaps it is better for me to buy an Eggmaster to cook these egg sticks myself at home just like what Rose did.

I have decided not to eat rice for lunch when eating at this new-found "economy" rice place because I feel too full if I take rice with 3 dishes. Below are my chap fan (mixed rice) with no rice for last week.

MYR7 - amaranth green (yin choy), cauliflower with sugar snap peas, fish with tofu and tomato
MYR6.5 - amaranth green (yin choy), pak choy, fish
MYR7.5 - sweet and sour fish, celery with chicken strips, brussel sprouts leaves (choy tam)
MYR6 - chinese cabbage (wong nga bak), water convolvulus (kang kung), fish slices with ginger and spring onion.
