6 ringgit char kway teow

On Thursday 20.nov.2025, it was raining in the morning. At about 9.40 am, we walked in the drizzles to nearby eateries for food.

*** Tim Won ssg ***

9.48 am - we ordered char kway teow because it is a new stall and no one ordered from it. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the ckt has a promo price of MYR 6 when the usual price is MYR 11 so I added one fried egg to be MYR 8 nett.

9.46 am - he ordered pork trotters dry noodles MYR 13 nett and a cup of hot cham MYR 2.50 nett.

*** Lai Lai Desserts ssg ***

10.16 am - he wanted to drink mung beans tong sui so he ordered a bowl of that and one 5 spice ham jim Peang. I ordered a bowl of red bean tong sui and one kap chung which is underneath the ham jim Peang on the orange plate.
Total MYR 11.40 nett.

At about 3 pm, he ate canned baked beans, toasts and one pork patty that he grilled from frozen.

Morning 43.80
Next morning ??.??

Disinhibited

On Friday 17.nov.2023, he wanted to eat pan Mee at Swee Hing coffee shop but the stall is not open.

*** Swee Hing coffee shop ***

10.12 am - his dry 3jc mihun kway Teow MYR 9 nett. Hot cham and iced Cham total MYR 5.90 nett.

10.21 am - I ate all his remaining 3jc noodles.

10.19 am - I added a fried egg to duck ckt kway Teow yellow Mee mixed with see ham MYR 12.50 nett. Both of us shared this ckt so the portion for me is not that much. A carby omad for me. After this brunch, I didn't eat anything else for this day.

*** Protein ***

10.58 am - I bought this one portion siew yuk MYR 9 nett from Canton z stall Jalan perisa for him because I think he needs to eat more protein. I didn't eat any of it because the stall staff has pour a spoonful of shallot oil and deep fried shallots on top of the siew yuk.

*** His early dinner ***

3.48 pm - he fried two eggs for his early dinner and ate them with the remaining half of avocado from his morning breakfast.

Spotted CNY Goodies

Friday 26.nov.21 is kid 1's day but we still have to go buy bread and deliver it to the elderly because the elderly says that the previous time kid 1 bought bread, there was difficulty in double parking and jumping down with the car unattended just to pop into the shop to buy just a loaf of bread so we have to make a special trip on not his day to buy and deliver one loaf of bread to the elderly. Since we are out, we also bought food for the whole day and breakfast the next day.

At the grocery shop, while selecting bread placed outside the shop, I heard coughing so I peered into the shop and saw a customer at the cashier counter paying for a tray of eggs and coughing hard with the mask pulled down exposing the mouth and nose. 🤦🏻‍♀️I suspect the mask was pulled down because the mask has to be used for the whole day to save on masks. Talking about not being clear of the concept.

The customer was coughing with the mask pulled down exposing the mouth and nose so I hope it is just a common cold as the nose looks obviously red and not the dreaded virus. I contemplated abandoning my buying bread but then thought better of it and waited till the coughing customer has exited the shop, held my breath, quickly paid at the counter next to the counter where the coughing happened and ran out. Hopefully the aerosol droplets didn't get me. I wore double masks but left my face shield at home. Now to wait 21 days.

9.12 am - These are the cny Goodies being sold by Swee Heng coffee shop. I guess CNY is near! Are you looking forward to CNY?

10.25 am - duck egg ckt from swee Heng at MYR 8.50 nett. The gao choy aka chives are hinting to us not to eat so much ckt. Can you spot the hint?

The food we bought on this trip out:

1. Hakka zhar yuk muk yee rice from Lucky Alley MYR 7 nett.
2. Gardenia Wholemeal bread one loaf from kk mart MYR 3.30 nett.
3. Pork trotters wanton Mee dry from BC&S coffee shop MYR 8.50 nett.

Food from Swee Heng:
4. Rojak MYR 7 nett.
5. Pork yee Mee MYR 7 nett.
6. Ling Fish Mee Hoon without milk MYR 13 nett.
7. One pack of two green pandan angku kuih MYR 2.30 nett.
8. Hot hainan tea coffee MYR 2.90 nett.
9. Duck ckt MYR 8.50 nett.

2021 Win Heng Seng Imbi

Suddenly he felt like eating his favourite pork noodles from Imbi so yesterday Sat 15.may.21 we went to Win Heng Seng at 7.49 am to buy takeaway. Initially, I was the only customer there since it was early. Then slowly the customers trickled in to buy takeaways. Just one handful, not many.

The 3jc stall. We bought one pack of mihun and one pack of kway teow at MYR 8 nett each for a regular portion. Both are dry versions.

Bought a pack of Kai see hor fun from the stall next to the ckt stall and added two prawn Wantons to it at a total of MYR 11 nett. A young man has taken over the ckt stall and I bought a pack of ckt at MYR 8 nett from him.

Oh no! The pork noodles that he felt like eating is not available. The stall is closed. I asked the coffee shop staff and was told when no dine in, the boss of this stall doesn't want to operate because his pork noodles is best eaten onsite and he felt his business is very little during no dine in period so it is not worth his time to stay open so close it is. That's his decision. Too bad for us.

The mini egg tart stall is not opened too. Guess we need to visit here when dine in is allowed to buy takeaway for the pork noodles. Our previous visit is in June 2019 but our next visit will not be in another 2 years but it will depend on when dine in is allowed again.

The ckt. There are about 3 prawns. Some spots are spicy as I forgot to specify to omit the chilies.

The prawn wanton in the Kai see hor fun which looks like a sui gao. Tastes quite ok with a prawn inside and some minced meat which felt like those minced vegetarian meat.

The Kai see hor fun soup is very flavourful, full of prawns taste. As I didn't feel very thirsty after that, I think not much MSG is used.

Pickup Chai Tow Kway

On Sat 24.apr.21, I was in a hurry to go to a place. I ordered food from Lucky Alley using food panda app so that I can pick the food up on my way to my destination without spending time to wait for the food to be prepared.

6 pm - We ate this chai tow kway for dinner after adding more vegetables to it and heating it up in a wok.

1.20 pm - our lunch of char kway teow.

Why is the char kway teow MYR 24 ?
After applying the pick up discount, the total is MYR 24.50 nett which is about MYR 12.25 nett per item which is an ok price so I continued to complete the ordering process and paid.

It is only MYR 11 before applying the pick up discount.

The app insists that I select all 4 extras. The "add to cart" button is not activated until I do so. As I am in a hurry I did just that in order to be able to add to cart the char kway teow.

But even after adding up all the price of all 4 extra items and MYR 11, it still is not MYR 24. Since the price I paid is just MYR 24.50 nett for both items, it doesn't matter to me that the original price of one item is MYR 24 so I let it go. What a mystery!

*** Tue 27.apr.21 ***

8.30 am - 2 of us shared this 3jc soup Mee hoon from choy kee. Lunch is dry wanton noodles from a nearby eatery.

6 pm - his dinner of remaining rice from the fridge stir fried with siew yuk bought for MYR 5 and an egg.

6.50 pm - my dinner of instant Quaker Oats with water and almonds. I also ate the dip from Belly and The Chef. The dip wasn't a mint dip as I thought. It is basil pesto sauce and I ate it all with half a slice of wholemeal bread.

Early at Yong Len

7.10 am - early breakfast at Yong Len coffee shop TTDI, KL on Friday 18 Sep 2020 d185. No tables outside to control registration of customers according to SOP. So this is Dine-in 19.

They use wrist temperature scanner instead. Only when tables are available, customers would be allowed to go inside the shop to dine in.

The standard size ckt at MYR 6 nett is a small enough portion for me. Clear pork noodles at MYR 6 nett. Takeaway wanton Mee at MYR 6.50 nett. Cham hot at MYR 2 nett. There are many kuihs sold but I didn't buy any. Maybe next time.

12.10 noon - My-dine-in 2, very little rice, fish, two veggies at MYR 9.20 nett because that piece of fish costs MYR 5.50 nett but it is tasty and fulfilled my requirements because surprisingly the two veggies are not salty at all. Bought from de Irrfan at IPC food court.

3.08 pm - foc big red dragon fruit for teatime from office pantry. I peeled it and ate it by myself without offering my co workers because of physical distancing and everyone is wearing masks. Also ate one banana in the morning at 10 am and one banana at 4.30 pm. The candidates are red apples, green apples, guava, kiwi, oranges, bananas, red dragon fruits and pears.

7.48 pm - ate this new limited edition Thai milk tea sundae with chocolate sauce at MYR 3.99 (MYR 4 nett) for dinner in the car on the way home. The milk tea fragrance is very strong until the chocolate sauce is not sweet in comparison. Had to eat this because on 13 Sep 2020 Sunday, McD delivery left out my sundae order and replaced it with salted caramel chocolate pie because when I went to collect the sundae the next day, the sundae dispensing machine is being washed and I didn't want to wait so I accepted the pie. Good that McD trust me when I said they didn't deliver the sundae to me. It is just my word because how to prove that I didn't receive the sundae? Good customer service!

Now they put their personal handphone numbers for any enquires or grievances like in my case, one missing item. They highlighted the sundae in yellow even before I reported the missing item so I suspect they already know that the sundae needs to be paid special attention to. I did find a sundae spoon in the paper bag so I guess maybe they were also cleaning the machine at that time and couldn't wait for the sundae, must deliver my already packed items to meet SLA.

The salted caramel chocolate pie is exactly like before so this is a rerun like for movies. He doesn't like the taste of caramel due to the buttery undertone so he ate the side where the chocolate is and kept the caramel side for me. 😅

WG Char Kway Teow

From Pad Thai, now is char kway teow. Sometimes when I am very hungry during lunch I will order char kway teow. This ckt (MYR 6.50 nett) and coconut (MYR 5.50 nett) is ordered from Chow Yang Kopitiam, SS2 PJ. The ckt is a bit wet and I prefer it to be on the dry side but still decent enough.

This ckt (MYR 6.50 nett) and Cham Ping (MYR 2.40 nett) is ordered from Wah Cheong Kopitiam Section 17 PJ. The ckt is not as wet as the one from Chow Yang so I prefer this.

After 2 years

We have not visited Win Heng Seng, Imbi for a few years now so we went there recently to check it out and all the 3 stalls that we like are still there operated by the same people but the prices have increased slightly or the portion has decreased with the same price like this Pork Meat Balls Noodles (Sam Kan Chong) that is still selling at MYR 8 nett a bowl but with lesser meat balls.

My favourite Char Kway Teow (large) to be shared with 3 of my friends at MYR 9 nett. It is not salty although I did not make a request this time. After so many years, did the seller still remember my request?

Pork noodles - MYR 8 nett - with pork intestines, livers, pork meat slices and pork kidney in a sweet porky soup - just as tasty as before.

I also bought some pastries like before. Mini egg tarts at MYR 1 nett each and mini pineapple tarts at MYR 0.80 nett each.

Siew Baos at MYR 1.90 nett each with the usual fillings. The one with sesame toppings seems to have butter in the pastry.

Do Re Mi Kaya Puffs - The big and medium kaya puffs cost MYR 1.80 nett each. The mini kaya puff is MYR 0.80 nett.

I mung bean pastry at MYR 1 nett and one pineapple tart at MYR 1.30 nett.

Yong Len TTDI

Char Kway Teow - MYR 6 nett. I like it because it is those dry type and there is a lot of eggs and beansprout in it. Blood cockles can be added for a fee.

Prawn mee - MYR 6 nett. The portion is small which is good because I can then eat other food.

Yong Len at TTDI around 9.30 am on a Sunday. We waited a while for seats because it was full house. I was disappointed because I wanted to buy a particular kuih here but on this day that I visited that kuih was not available in the trays of kuih being sold.

Pg17 Day2 CKT BKT

We went to my favourite char kway teow stall at KTG Coffee Shop in Penang. This oyster omelette is simply delicious!

Big Prawns Char Kway Teow. I feel like eating this right now.

At night we went to this Bak Kut Teh Eatery called Gee Heang Bak Kut Teh 奇香(乾)肉骨茶 at The Golden Triangle Condo.

All these for 5 pax with 1 big eater so it was a satisfying dinner.

WG Duck Egg CKT

Penang Duck Egg CKT in KL - MYR 13.50 nett. Whenever I miss the KTG Penang CKT, I can eat this one now. It is almost as tasty despite having only 2 prawns as compared to the 5 prawns in KTG Penang CKT and cost MYR 1.50 nett more. I prefer this than the noodle in yesterday's post.

I bought the above CKT from Secret Penang Cafe stall in Lot 10 Hutong food court.

Then I bought this Macau Pork Chop Bun - MYR 13.90 nett and requested for them to omit the butter on the bun as takeaway for my spouse. It is best eaten on the spot as the bun turned hard when cold.

The above bun is bought from this Porco Macau Pork Chop Bun stall in Lot 10 Hutong Food Court. Tai Lei Loi Kei Macau Pork Chop Bun is no longer available here but this Porco Macau is just as delicious.

"Today wastage is tomorrow's shortage" so please eat and finish all our food. Please take your leftovers home for your next meal.

All under 1 roof.
