WG One Utama

 Yesterday I was at One Utama and their CNY Decor is only ready on 8 Jan 2020 with the theme "Wishes Fulfilled, Happiness Abounds".

The area is cordoned off.

I requested for no teriyaki sauce for the salmon teriyaki set at MYR 28++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 32.48 nett). Kept half for dinner.

WG Ante Pork Chop

I have read about the tasty and juicy pork chop at Ante a few years ago and just recently I went there for lunch with my friend. I ordered pork striploin set lunch at MYR 25.90 nett which includes a glass of fresh lemon drink that is slightly sweet. I find the mashed potatoes to be very creamy and buttery.

The pork chop is very thick but just tender enough. I just ate the thin strip that I cut out and kept the rest for my spouse. He ate the rest and said he preferred eating siu yuk (roast pork) to pork cooked in this style.

Total bill for 2 pax (lunch set) - MYR 45.80 nett at Ante, One Utama.

WG Same Price

Back in August 2015, we ordered this Fish Thai Laksa at MYR 12.90++ (5% service charge and 6% GST = MYR 14.36 nett)  at Old Siam eatery, One Utama and the price is still the same when I ate this a few days ago.

Those are all the fish cubes from the fish curry. The curry is creamy but I find it a bit too salty and would prefer to be less salty.

Bill is MYR 72.80 for  4 pax.

Mee Rebus

After reading about mee jawa at Nancy's blog and mee rebus at STP's blog, I went in search of them and found the above - Mee Rebus at MYR 12.50+ (5% service charge = MYR 13.15 nett). It has half a hard boiled egg, some vegetables, potatoes, squid, tofu and very thick gravy.

Mackerel

I revisited Sekinchan Catch at One Utama to have a bowl of Red Grouper fish slice noodle (soup) again (MYR25 nett) but was told that it was not available for the day so I settled for the next best fish slice noodle.

Mackerel fish slices with vermicelli (mee hoon) in clear broth at MYR17 nett. Light and tasty with a generous portion of fish slices. I counted at least 7 sizeable slices. I must remember to order hor fun instead of mee hoon next time because this mee hoon is not as soft as I wanted it to be.

My 4 friends all ordered the Fish Ball noodles at MYR10 nett.

After my lunch, I went to buy Old Chang Kee Curry Puff with its "Buy 5 get 1 free" offer at MYR12 nett but I did not check the number of puffs in the paper bag when the cashier handed me the bag so when I reached home, I found out that there were only 5 curry puffs in the bag when it should be 6. Lesson learnt. Always remember to check the food and the bill on the spot.

Johnny Restaurant

My friend suggested that we eat at Johnny Restaurant at One Utama for lunch. I have been to Johnny Restaurant in Bukit Bintang Plaza many, many years ago. She ordered the prawns fried rice at MYR9.90+ (10% service charge - MYR10.90 nett) and for MYR3+ (MYR3.30 nett), added on a drink and a small bowl of tom yum soup.

Both of us shared a plate of fried kailan at MYR9.90+ (MYR10.90 nett).

I also ordered a mixed dessert shaved ice at MYR4.90+ (MYR5.40 nett) and was served the above. 

After drinking most of the coconut milk (santan), I can finally see the pieces of jackfruit, attap chee (from nipa palm), red ruby (cubes of chestnuts covered by red jelly), and red beans. As usual I did not order a main meal but just ate dessert and half of the kailan vegetable and I was full.

Total price is MYR35.85 nett.

Original Cake

About 5 months ago, I saw the long queue at Sunway Velocity. I was in One Utama recently on a weekday and took the opportunity to buy the available cakes (cheese and chocolate flavours) to try as there were only 6 persons in the queue and 4 of them were waiting for the cake with original flavour which was still in the oven. I did not want to wait for the original flavour cake so I just bought the two flavours that were available.

Cheese Flavour - MYR20 nett. It is about 20 cm x 10 cm x 8 cm and I was surprised to find that it is quite heavy.

Side view. You can see the very light tasting cheese oozing out of the cake. The texture of the cake is fine, soft but quite dense. The cake tastes like the original flavour cake except for the layers of cheese in it. As this cake has been out of the oven for quite some time, it was not as soft as the one I ate in Taiwan which was just out of the oven. The instructions on the box recommend consumers to finish eating this cake within 3 days and the cake must be kept in the fridge after 10 hours from the time of purchase.

The chocolate flavour cake at MYR25 nett. It is the same size as the cheese cake with the same texture.

Light chocolate taste.

MYR45 nett just for cakes. Do eat it immediately after it is just out of the oven to get the best taste and texture. That is only if you are curious about it as some people may say that it is just a common sponge cake with a strong egg taste.

AK Noodles House

Bittergourd and spotted Mackerel with Rice Set - MYR17.90+ (MYR18.80 nett) at AK Noodles House, One Utama.

I did not feel like eating rice so I gave my bowl of rice to my friend. There are 7 slices of spotted mackerel in the clear broth. I like to eat food like this - simple and tasty.

My 3 friends ordered 2 sets of curry yong tau fu with rice so with my bowl of rice, each of them have a bowl of rice each with 2 bowls of curry yong tau fu.

Sekinchan Catch

We noticed a new eatery in One Utama so we went to try the food there.

Red Grouper Fish Slices noodle MYR25 nett. I chose to have kway teow and bee hoon as the noodle. The fish slices are fresh and tasty. The broth is very light in taste, not salty at all. I will have this fish noodle again.

Fish Ball noodle - MYR10 nett.

Seafood noodle - MYR16 nett. There is only one prawn but many clams.

Total price for 3 pax is MYR51 nett.
