WG Ante Pork Chop

I have read about the tasty and juicy pork chop at Ante a few years ago and just recently I went there for lunch with my friend. I ordered pork striploin set lunch at MYR 25.90 nett which includes a glass of fresh lemon drink that is slightly sweet. I find the mashed potatoes to be very creamy and buttery.

The pork chop is very thick but just tender enough. I just ate the thin strip that I cut out and kept the rest for my spouse. He ate the rest and said he preferred eating siu yuk (roast pork) to pork cooked in this style.

Pavilions in the form of giant bird cages at Midvalley Mall.

One Utama Mall also uses a pink colour scheme with trees lining the walkway with small sail boats (sampan). Not too sure whether or not I will have the opportunity to go and take more photos of the CNY decoration at this Mall again.

WG Mr Tuk Tuk

Finally I went to Mr Tuk Tuk at Starling Mall for lunch with my friends but the lunch set portion mentioned by PH is too large for me so I just ordered Pad Thai at MYR 9.80 nett and Tab Tim Krob at MYR 7.90 nett. 

I let each of my 3 friends try the pad thai so that I do not have to eat so much. The egg on top is a nice surprise because it was not shown in the menu. The noodles were a bit too chewy for me but one of my friend like it. There is a lot of ingredients in this dish so it is tasty. The coconut milk (santan) in the ice dessert is very thick. I prefer it to be more diluted but it is still tasty.

Our Bill for 4 pax is MYR 51.10 nett.

WG Not Helpful

I accompany my friends who wanted to eat lunch at Kim Gary, Midvalley Mall. I ordered a set lunch of beef steak pasta with black pepper sauce at MYR 14.90+ (10% service tax = MYR 16.40 nett) which included soup and drink. I kept half of the pasta for dinner but ate all the steak as the beef steak is just two thin slices of beef marinated in black pepper sauce. I left most of the sauce uneaten.

Soup with drink - my friend changed her drink (coffee or tea) to ice mango pomelo sago and I followed suit by topping up MYR 4.50+ (MYR 4.95 nett) to the price of our set. Since the drink is served prepacked and sealed, I took it back to my workplace and gave it to another friend of mine since I was full from the pasta. My friend who drank it told me that it has a slight fake/artificial mango taste so I won't order it next time.

The cashier added the top up price to the wrong set so we had difficulty figuring out who to pay which item as there are no description at all and my friends did not look at the price of the lunch set that they ordered. I did so I know that Lunch B is mine. In the end we went back to the eatery and look through their menu again and confirmed that they have added one of the  MYR 4.50+ to the wrong lunch set.

WG YTF Khong Kee

My lunch - tofu, bittergourd and brinjal stuffed with fish paste at MYR 1.50 nett each. This eatery has porridge in its menu too but I did not buy any as I don't feel like paying MYR 5.80 nett for a bowl of porridge so after eating these 3 pieces, I walked to O&S eatery and bought 2 rolls of popiah without any sauce at MYR 2.30 nett each as takeaway.

WG Lunch Solo

I had lunch alone one day at "Delectable by Su" cafe at the Glasshouse Seputeh while waiting for my friend to pick me up. Since the cafe is well known for its cake, I ordered a slice of cake and espresso to go with it.

They served me pop corns foc!

Tim Tam Cheese Cake - MYR 18 nett.

It was sweet and rich so I could not finish it even with the bitter espresso so I took a third of the cake back for my friend to try.

I also bought a whole loak of banana cake and a slice of classic chocolate cake for my friend as takeaway. They accept credit card payment for total amount that is above MYR 50 nett.

Kuih Koci

I have eaten kuih koci before but they are not like this one. This kuih koci is made from black glutinous rice.

It has coconut flakes filling. It is fresh so it is very tasty. I bought it from a healthy food grocery shop located a few shops away from "Eat at J's cafe" in PJ. It is sold in limited quantities in bags of 5 for MYR 6.50 nett (MYR 1.30 nett each) so my friends and I bought 1 bag to share. I like it a lot so if I am ever in the area again, I will go and see whether or not they have this for sale on that day.

This is how it looks like before it was unwrapped. I ate one and took one home for my mother to try. She likes it a lot too.

GS Zuk Noodle House

During one recent Sunday at Midvalley Mall, I noticed that Mini Mini Cafe has been replaced by a new eatery so we went there to try out the noodles.

Fresh prawns wanton noodles - MYR 14.20 nett. There are 4 big prawn wantons. The noodles are springy wanton noodles that smell of "kan sui" (枧水, jian shui) but taste ok. As I do not drink the broth, I did not have much expectations for it but my friend says that the broth needs to be improved because nothing stands out in regards to its taste and it could not stand on its own as a soup.

I counted 3 prawns in the one wanton so the prawn wantons are worth trying.

Spicy Soup Pork noodles at MYR 17.05 nett. The broth is very spicy from white pepper. Other than pork meat, there are pork stomachs and livers too with strips of salted vegetable.

Zuk / Zok Noodle House is located on the same floor as McD near the cinema at Midvalley Mall.

GS Prosperity Time

CNY is near when you see this seasonal product at McD! Like NuxV, I can't help myself and bought 2 sets to share with my friends. For those who don't eat beef, there is chicken prosperity burger available. So that we have more curly fries to share, I upsized the orders but changed the soft drinks to plain tea and coffee "kosong" because I am on a no sugary drinks mission.

This view does not look very good but taste is fine. The black pepper sauce may be a bit too hot and spicy for some.

Cut into half for sharing. There are many slices of onions too.

The upsized price for a set is MYR16.58 nett but since I changed the large soft drinks to plain tea and coffee, they gave back 20 cents each to me - they are so honest! 

GS Pulut Panggang

One of our regular eatery - Upeh at the Gardens Mall. Nasi Kerabu Hitam Ayam (Raw vege blue rice with chicken - blue from the butterfly pea flower) at MYR 23.10 nett. The beansprouts are totally raw and it goes well with the flavourful condiments on top of the rice. Ginger Honey Hot drink at MYR 6.25 nett.

Pulut Panggang (grilled glutinous rice with fillings) - MYR 3.20 nett for two pieces per serving. They reheated them and cut each in half for us. The glutinous rice is soft and the dried shrimps coconut flakes filling is sweet and salty at the same time. Very flavourful.

Total Bill for 2 pax is MYR 32.66 nett

Mandarin Oranges

Bought a box of Mandarin Oranges from Aeon Supermarket. Less than one month to CNY!

28 honey mandarin oranges (medium size) for MYR 19.88 nett. It is succulent and tastes sweet with a bit of sourness but the membrane is a bit on the thick side. Quite ok.

Agar agar

Size comparison.

When I was in kindergarten, I like to eat red agar-agar (jelly from algae) that looked like the above with rose syrup flavour so when I saw this, I was all set to relive my youth but it was not meant to be, the red agar agar above has pandan flavour instead of rose syrup but the texture is similar, firm but not hard but is a bit too sweet for me. Costs MYR 1.50 nett. My friend will buy it for me to give me a treat whenever she goes to the eatery in the morning for breakfast.

WG Same Price

Back in August 2015, we ordered this Fish Thai Laksa at MYR 12.90++ (5% service charge and 6% GST = MYR 14.36 nett)  at Old Siam eatery, One Utama and the price is still the same when I ate this a few days ago.

Those are all the fish cubes from the fish curry. The curry is creamy but I find it a bit too salty and would prefer to be less salty.

Bill is MYR 72.80 for  4 pax.

Mall Food

9 am breakfast for two - ala carte fish fillet burger without the tartar sauce (MYR 7.50 nett). McSavers Breakfast Mix and Match Special Price Set at MYR 5.99 nett - I selected Chicken Ham Egg Wrap (Normal Price is MYR 4.80 nett) and Cakoi (Youtiao - Normal Price is MYR 2.50 nett).

The Breakfast Wrap Chicken Roll is tasty despite being a bit on the salty end. I like the taste of the gooey melted cheese with the egg in the wrap.

These are the items in the McSavers Breakfast Mix and Match.

So convenient now that they accept card payment.

12 noon - lunch for two. Ordered the combo to share - 1 noodle, 1 delight item and 1 drink for only MYR 18.90 nett. Prawn Mee - Normal price is MYR 10.90 nett. Sotong KangKung - Normal Price is MYR 9.90 nett and Hot Cocoa drink - Normal price is MYR 5.50 nett so quite a significant saving by ordering the combo. Next time I am going to request for the sotong kangkung sauce to be served separately because they put in too much sauce.

Two bowls of my favourite chendul at MYR 6.50 nett each with an extra bowl of shaved ice (foc).
