Rooftop Gardens Mall

On Wednesday 5.jul.2023, went to Midvalley Mall and ate brunch at the cafe in Book Xcess book store at the Gardens Mall rooftop.

*** Wed 5.jul.2023 ***

11.51 am - on our previous visit, we ordered fish and chips MYR 30++ but was told it is not available so we ordered it again during our 2nd visit to this cafe. Instead of tartar sauce, the tasty garlicky mayo sauce is presented using the smeared sauce plating technique. There is a small bowl of fresh cucumber and pineapples in vinegar to go with the fries and fish. I like the taste of this dish.

11.59 am - the fish is Toman fish.

12.37 noon - toman fish has white flaky meat.

12 noon - we ordered char siew duck in duck broth pasta and chose fettuccine instead of angel hair pasta but they told us that it wasn't ready yet so we changed our order to grilled chicken with rice MYR 28++ which taste good except that the rice is quite al dente aka more to hard for me and the rice is quite salty.

1.02 pm - hot flat white MYR 12++ for him and cold long black MYR 11+ for me. The total price is MYR 93.95 nett. This cafe with nice ambiance is located on the rooftop of the Gardens Mall. Just use the escalators at Putien eatery side and go up all the way to the rooftop and walk out to the rooftop garden till you see Book Xcess bookstore.

*** Sunday 2.jul.2023 ***

1.18 pm - on our previous visit, we just ordered a plate of char siew duck breast meat MYR 20++ to share between us because we have already eaten brunch earlier and just wanted to visit this rooftop cafe.

2.03 pm - total price is MYR 54.50 nett as I ordered cold long black MYR 11++ and he ordered a YuMaTo drink MYR 16++ which is a mixture of Yuzu, Matcha and Tonic.

*** Sweet 16 trEATs promo ***

For this rooftop cafe, there is a promo by the Gardens Mall for these two dishes at MYR 16 before ++ and it is available for lunch and dinner on weekdays only. Lunch time is from 10 am to 2.30 pm. I asked for details and was told that the promo dishes are half the portion of the usual portion served so the chicken dish we ate is the usual portion at the usual price. For this promo price, the portion is half the usual portion. I am ok with half portion since I don't want to eat that much so maybe I will try the promo version of Ebony and Ivory dish before the promo ends on 16 July 2023.

*** Cafe in Book Xcess rooftop ***

Nice bright and airy ambiance. Very pleasant to have a nice cafe meal unless there are occupied tables that are very noisy by talking loudly.

There is a grand piano at the entrance.

Book Xcess rooftop Gardens Mall. Lovely garden with a small fountain. Good to sit in this garden and enjoy the sunshine.

2.22 pm - he ordered this watercress soup MYR 8.90 nett at popcorn food court because he loves to drink soup.

Before that he went to Popular bookstore and bought two lanyard with card holders MYR 5 each so that he could write down contact details for the Elderlies in case they wandered off by themselves. 

After he drank all the soup, we went to Aeon and bought a Windsir natural cotton bolster 37" x 7.9" MYR 49 nett because there is a bolster case in the new bedsheet set that we bought recently but we don't have a bolster so bought one for the case. 

Then we went to Aeon Supermarket and bought a fried chicken thigh MYR 4.90 nett and two fried Pollock fish fillets MYR 7.90 nett each for his today's dinner and my tomorrow's omad.
