Pumpkin Cheese Shui Jiao

Thu 8 Nov 2018 Day 3 in Taipei - At 10.40 am, we checked out from our room and put our luggage in the hotel storage area because our flight is early next morning on Fri 9 Nov 2019 and we plan to spend the night in the airport so that we do not need to commute in the early hours. I am not a morning person so commuting to the airport in the wee hours is not my cup of tea. I prefer to be in the airport before hand the previous night.

At 11.30 am, we went to an eatery to have our favourite food which is Shui Jiao (dumplings). This is a bowl of Seafood soup at the eatery.

Clams and Petola gourd soup.

Kimchi dumplings and Pumpkin Cheese dumplings - 5 each. I prefer the dumplings here because the skin is thicker and the shape of the dumpling is round instead of longish like those dumplings by Manjoe, Midvalley Mall.

Vegetables dumplings and vegetables and Prawns dumplings - 5 each.

Vegetables and Prawns dumpling - so tasty!

Vegetables dumpling - good for vegetarians.

Pumpkin Cheese dumpling - not very strong cheese taste so even people who do not like strong cheese taste should be able to eat this.

Kimchi dumpling - I like. Very flavourful. So far, in KL, I know only that Manjoe, Midvalley has kimchi dumplings on their menu.

This is the order chit with our orders.

This is the eatery:
蕭媽媽手工創意水餃
Xiāo māmā shǒugōng chuàngyì shuǐjiǎo
Mother Xiao's handmade creative dumplings.

Address: 105, Taiwan, Taipei City, Songshan District, Baoqing Street, 93號1樓. For those who can read Chinese words, here is an article with more information about this eatery. For those who cannot read Chinese, there is always Google Translate.

The counter next to the entrance.

Inside looking out to the entrance.

Sauces - self service. There is even pesto sauce for you to eat with the dumplings.

This is our breakfast in our hotel room at 9.30 am before we checked out and went to eat dumplings.

1 pm - From the dumplings eatery we walked about 800 m to Chiate Bakery to buy the popular pineapple tarts for my friends. We always buy Chiate pineapple cakes/tarts when we visit Taipei.

8.30 am - small kai si hor fun mix mee hoon at MYR 7.50 nett with a hot cup of coffee mix tea at MYR 2 nett. Fish paste hor fun, a small portion at MYR 7.50 nett. There is preserved tong choy in the fish paste (yu wat) hor fun. I don't quite like the yu wat because it feels like it has many other types of flour in the fish paste other than fish meat so I don't think we will order yu wat hor fun again. There were more people dining in this time. Hopefully the table next to us is all healthy because they were vigorously talking animatedly. In view of the current situation around the world where many places are experiencing spots of recurrences surges, I think we will buy takeaways to eat at home as much as we can instead of dining in. This is our Dine In 5 for all Dine Ins and Dine In 3 for this eatery,  Homemade Fish Ball House.

2.48 pm - my lunch, parts of chicken, char siew, siew yuk rice (MYR 10 nett) and 3jc noodles (MYR 7 nett) takeaway from Friendship Cafe. Both are dishes that we often eat at this coffee shop before mco. Dinner at 6.30 pm was just 3 packs of Le-Mond Cheese sandwich crackers (2 in a pack), 1 pack of Le-Mond Hazelnut sandwich crackers (2 in a pack) and 1 pack of Lexus Peanut Butter sandwich crackers (6 in a pack) - ooops, this means I binge eat biscuits (total 14 sandwich crackers).

  1. I still not dare to dine in coffee shop which has multiple stalls coz i doubt its hygiene. Stalls owner only take care of their own stall so the dining area is neglected. I prefer veggie dumpling coz i like the veggie crunch. I m surprise u can binge eat lotsa biscuit! I seldom eat those despite having lots of them at home.

  2. Fillings in the dumplings sure look good! In comparison, I think I'd very much prefer what you had locally compared to the two bowl dishes in Taiwan.

    1. 14 sandwich crackers wor. Your tummy would be satisfied la with so many biscuits. You like ching ching soup and dumplings with thicker skins like these? The Cantonese sui gao here all have thin skins.

    2. Tummy might be full but wouldn't be happy haha. I much prefer savoury food when humgry.

When I was working in Shanghai, got really fedup of dumplings with thick skins. Now... don't mind since hardly eat them.

    3. Yes those jiao zi in Shanghai all have thick skins cos they only eat the dumplings and the thick dough skin replaces rice. Now it is difficult to find thick dough skin jiao zi locally. Those shops from Da Lu also make them thin skins when they found out local people don't like thick dough skins.
