Wrapping up day 2

Still on Wed 7 Nov 2018 Day 2 in Taipei - From Nan Men Market we took the mrt back to Shuang Lian Mrt Station and walked back to the place we are staying at to take a rest. 3.30 pm - Walked past this Cama Cafe with very strong lovely aroma of coffee. Later I bought a pack of coffee beans back for my friend who loves to drink coffee.

3.33 pm - Via Hotel Loft - 2nd floor of this shop building. Normally, we stayed with CityInn Chain of hotels but this time we decided to stay near Shuang Lian MRT station because of the food nearby.

Building security guard counter at ground floor.

Looking outwards to the main road.

Can take the lift to 2nd floor or walk the stairs. We chose to walk the stairs.

Entrance to Via Loft. Need to key in your pin to enter.

Oooooo, so dim.

Can you see the room numbers and where to go?

Back to the room where everyone took a nap from 3.30 pm to 5 pm.

5 pm - woke up and eat fruits. Guess what fruit is this.

6.42 pm - everyone is still resting in the room - too lazy to walk out. So ate grass jelly - 仙草 (xian cao) as dessert in the room.

Finally at 7.41 pm, we walked out to Shuang Lian MRT station and instead of taking the metro train, we walked the underground mall all the way to Taipei Main station. This is the Waterfall Squares mentioned in this Metro Article. I just love to walk the underground malls of Taipei because they are very clean and peaceful.

8 pm - at Taipei Main Station - Breeze departmental store to buy packs of tea for my friend from Tea Struck. We bought 3 boxes, one box each of Osmanthus Pu-Erh Tea, Osmanthus OoLong Tea and Alisan Tea. One box of tea with 15 teabags costs TWD200 (about MYR 29). Buy 3 boxes at a promo price of TWD 500 (MYR 73).

We ate dinner at one of the many small shops in Taipei Main Station underground malls.

Stinky tofu again for dinner. Most people prefer the deep fried crispy stinky tofu that looks like this but I prefer the wet tofu.

Hhhmm, so tasty.

9 pm - went to one of the many small shops that sell silver ornaments for bracelets in the Taipei Main Station underground malls to buy silver beads for my friends.

Must get the right sizes.

10 pm - We walked back all the way from Taipei Main Station via the underground malls to Shuang Lian Mrt station and back to our room. So there goes day 2 - one main vegetarian lunch, desserts, visit a market, nap, dinner, buy souvenirs for friends and that's it. Very relaxing slow trip with lots of walking and food.

Weekends are our takeaway days where we buy takeaways to eat at home for the whole day. 7.30 am, we were at Swee Heng, coffee shop. There were many people dining in. I bought wanton Mee charsiew dry MYR 6.50 nett, wanton Mee pork knuckle dry MYR 7.50 nett, pork Yee Mee soup MYR 6.50 nett, ckt duck eggs MYR 8 nett and 5 packs of nyonya kuih at MYR 2.20 nett each as takeaways. Then I saw this supreme fresh van which I bought delivery fruits from during the mco so I went to take a look and bought a bag of 12 satsumas at MYR 10 nett. Look at the sky at 7 ish am, still so dark.

Ate kuihs (one red angku and one ubi kayu kuih) in the morning so it was 1.30 pm when I ate the above portion of Yee Mee from the pork Yee Mee allocated for me since morning. I prefer to eat it dry so I didn't ask for the soup to be portioned to me but kept for another meal for himself.

1.40 pm. Each of us are one seri muka each. Must be I didn't eat this kuih for a few months so it tastes so very, very good. The pandan layer is sweet and taste of kaya pandan whereas the glutinous rice layer is so lemak, full of coconut milk and savoury. Yums yums! Will buy again the next day (Sunday). These nyonya kuihs are from Aroma Nyonya that distributes the kuihs to be sold at many places and this price at MYR 2.20 nett per pack is the lowest price.

I also bought green n red angkus, getuk getuk Ubi kayu and Ubi kayu kuih so 5 packs at a total of MYR 11 nett.

6.49 pm - not my dinner of the soup from the pork Yee Mee with added siew bok choy and one egg.

7.30 pm - my dinner of char kway teow cake from morning. The kway teow is now a lump of cake so I ate them with a spoon. Still taste good. I wanted to buy wat tan hor as takeaways but was lazy to wait so I bought ckt instead. This is quite a heavy dinner for me. I ate late because I took a nap from 3.30 pm to 7 pm. After that I ate one satsuma to wrap up the food on a Saturday!

  5. Looks good, the hotel. Security is important. Like the look of your fried kway teow. I like the kway teow over at your side - thinner, smoother, finer - ours here, thick and white.

  9. It has actually been a long time since I went on trips like that. I used to be completely exhausted walking around with hubby, and before that with my friend. In the near future at least I'd have the kids around so wouldn't need to walk that much to maximise the trip.

    1. If go on bus tours then no need to walk much. The bus will bring you everywhere.

    2. My kiasu hubby would maximise the trip one. After bus takes us back to hotel, must still go out and walk.

    3. Hahahaha, then better don't follow bus tour. Just go free and ez on your own and walk to the max! 😆
