WG Maki

Don't know what to eat for lunch again so went to Sushi Zanmai at The Gardens again to check on their price after 1 June 2018. As can be seen from the receipt below, they have removed the 6% GST from the price stated on the menu for all the listed items except for the refillable green tea which still remains as MYR 1.20 nett. I did not ask why as the green tea is refillable.

Chawanmushi MYR 5.47 nett (used to be MYR 5.80 nett). California Maki and Avocado Maki used to be MYR 4.80 nett each so now is MYR 4.53 nett. A white plate of sushi (tamago sushi in this case) used to cost MYR 2.80 nett so now it costs MYR 2.64 nett.

WG Medifoods

Vegetarian Nasi Dagang - MYR 15.60 nett with red rice, tofu, broccoli, pickled cabbage and beancurd drumsticks rendang. Taste good so I finished all the gravy as not to waste. As usual I kept half the portion for dinner.

This is the beancurd sheets roll (drumstick) with a sugar cane stick in the middle. I chewed on the sugar cane stick for its juice and spat out the coarse fibers.

Takeaway XO sauce fried rice for my friend - MYR 14.62 nett. I requested for less spicy but my friend says that it is still very spicy because there are chili seeds in the rice.

Papaya foc as appetisers. Sweet and refreshing.

Total price for 5 pax is MYR 65 nett.

Medifoods Lifestyle Cafe is located on the same row as Prosperity Bowl in SS2, PJ.

Please click on the above and below menu for a bigger image. For more items on the menu, please go to their website. I ordered the above Nasi Dagang since yesterday is Thursday. They have not updated their menu yet so you need to deduct 6% GST from the listed prices above.

This is the XO Sauce Fried Rice that we ordered takeaway. I am eyeing the Lei Cha. May have that the next time we eat here because we are definitely returning for more vegetarian food.

This section of the menu is for those who prefers the familiar taste of their local cuisine.

Tamarind Candies

Have you eaten this before?

They are chewy and gummy. My friend bought them from Bangkok and she told me that once she starts eating them, she can't stop.

I believe that there are a few brands for this but this is her favourite brand.

It is made from Tamarind (Assam), Sugar, Salt and Syrup without any preservatives. I can't find this product locally so I guess we need to buy them from Bangkok.

WG Foodies Nest Starling

Update (9 March 2019 Saturday): This stall is no longer at Foodies' Nest, Starling Mall.
After visiting the Food Court in Starling Mall back in November last year, we finally ate lunch there one weekday. I did not know what to order so ended up having this curry noodle (I chose hor fun and yellow noodle) without any meat at MYR 8.90 nett. The curry broth is very creamy from the coconut milk and more on the sweet side. Apart from the noodles, there are cabbage, long beans, bean curd sheets and bean curd puffs in the bowl of curry. As usual I kept half the portion of noodles for dinner.

When I looked at the receipt, I found out that this stall is owned by Mr. Fish which also owns a Fish Head Noodle eatery in Starling Mall.

This is the curry stall at Foodies Nest Starling.

The stall name is Teo Chew Curry Laksa

GS After 2 years

It was back in March 2016 when I noticed a long queue outside this new eatery in One Utama. Now that the 3rd branch has opened in Midvalley Mall, I went there for brunch as they are now offering a discount of 15% until 8 July 2018.

Prawn Roe Dry Thin noodles (small portion) with Sui Gao dumplings (hidden underneath the noodles) at MYR 16.90+ (10% service charge = MYR 18.59 nett but after 15% off now it is just MYR 15.80 nett). The prawn roe has a fragrant roasted shrimp taste and the soup has the nice taste of dried fish.

Two small bowls of broad noodles with beef tendons (soup) at MYR 13.90+ and MYR 14.90+ (with sui gao dumplings). The noodles are on the firm side (al dente).

A small portion of dry noodles with beef tendon and wanton dumplings (MYR 14.90+). The noodles are mixed with beef tendon gravy. The beef tendons are soft, full of collagen and tasty.

Both the wanton and sui gao dumplings have whole prawns in them with the sui gao having mushrooms fillings too. I will be back to have more of them as they are very delicious.

A cup of hot milk tea. Smooth.

Total bill for 4 pax after 15% discounts and 10% service charge is MYR 61.25 nett.

Mak's Chee at Midvalley Mall with the 15% off signboard which caught my attention.

Sign above the entrance.

Busy cooking the noodles.

We did not see the imported chili oil and chili sauce mentioned in the menu anywhere and did not ask about them because I do not feel that the noodles needed the chili oil and sauce since they are tasty.

Butter white coffee

Drinks for 3 pax at Imperial White Coffee, Kuchai Lama.

Mui Choy Lotus Paste Biscuit - MYR 9+ (10% service charge = MYR 9.90 nett). Mui Choy is sweet salty preserved vegetables so this biscuit is sweet and savoury. My friend thinks that it tastes similar to the mixed nuts mooncakes.
My iced white coffee with butter in it - MYR 4.80+ (MYR 5.28 nett). My friends said that they could taste the butter but I could not. It tastes like very thick and sweet coffee but I like its taste once I added the correct amount of ice to it.

Steamed kaya butter Apollo Bun - MYR 4.80+ (MYR 5.28 nett). Very soft and fluffy.

These are the drinks on another visit. The biscuits are included in the drink order.

Ham, Luncheon Meat, Egg Apollo Bun at MYR 7.20+ (MYR 7.92 nett). I think the yellow sauce is mayo cheese sauce. Taste quite good.

Beware of Bones

Fresh fish fillet soup (no noodles) at MYR 11.90 nett which is the same price as those choices with noodles in them. There are a lot of bones in the fish fillets. Many prefer deep fried fish pieces to this.

Total bill for 4 pax is MYR 66.30 nett at Win Soon, Kuchai Lama.

Panchos no more

The unit where Panchos (Midvalley Top Floor) used to be located in, is now undergoing renovation for "House of Pork". I wonder apart from pork what do they serve.
