Kimchi Tong Sui

On Thursday 7.mar.2024, went to Ko Kan Coffee shop Jalan perisa 1 after reading an article online:

11.01 am - iced cham drink MYR 3.50 nett. Nasi kunyit chicken MYR 12 nett from the nasi lemak stall.
The braised pork belly, prawns noodles in garlic soup mixed with braised gravy. The noodles are soft so I find it easy to eat.

11.05 am - From the stall mentioned in the online article, I bought a bowl of kimchi which is a bit on the sweet side so I ate all the kimchi. Also bought a bowl of tong Sui which is hot so I bought a glass of ice 20 cents from the coffee shop to put in the tong Sui because I prefer to eat cold tong Sui. The tong Sui has just a tiny tinge of sweetness. It is lily bulb aka Pak hup, longan, peach gum tong Sui.

11.13 am - Also bought fruit rojak which has pineapple, mango, cucumber, jicama, crushed peanuts. Total price is MYR 35.50 nett for 4 items.

Thong Kee Sri Petaling

On Monday 28.aug.2023, went to Thong Kee coffee shop for brunch because I wanted to go to Guardian pinnacle condo that is having a promo 66% off for 2nd item for selected items.

10.45 am - the 1st thing to do when entering Thong Kee coffee shop in Sri Petaling is to get a table number which is assigned to customers, no choosing. Then go queue up at the drinks cashier counter to order and pay for the drinks which will be delivered to the customers' table number.

10.51 am - his Kai see prawn hor fun which he added a chicken drumstick so the price is MYR 12.50 nett and his small cup of hot cham MYR 2.90 nett.

10.40 am - my rojak MYR 8.50 nett which should be the same as the rojak at Swee Hing since both stalls are named OUG rojak.

10.41 am - almost all the seats are occupied.

The car is parked inside pinnacle condo so he went to the supermarket and I went to Guardian to do our shopping. He bought one raw boneless Aquinas chicken leg MYR 6.40 ish, avocados, sweet potatoes, eggs, broccoli, okra, purple malabar vege and gwai lin gou.

4.14 pm - his diy early dinner of boneless chicken leg, broccoli and sweet potatoes.

Feast at Coffee Shop

On Tuesday 18.apr.2023, ate brunch at Swee Hing coffee shop and bought lunch for the Elderlies from the same coffee shop.

1.43 pm - just before leaving Swee Hing coffee shop after our brunch, I walked past the kaya Puff kiosk and decided to buy a kaya puff MYR 2.10 but I have only one MYR 1 note. Since I need to use a MYR 10 note, I thought I would buy more items so that I don't need to receive any change. Ended up buying 3 packs of kuih MYR 2.6 x 3 and kaya puff MYR 2.1 so the total price is MYR 9.9 nett. All the kuih are very tasty.

10.24 am - I have bought takeaway rojak from this stall many times but never eaten it there and then until this day. As tasty as before with squid, one whole egg, cucumber, jicama, potatoes, coconut fritters, and tofu for just MYR 8.50 nett.

He ordered pork soup yee Mee MYR 9 nett and Hainan char ice drink MYR 3.20 nett which we shared. I also ordered kampar items in soup MYR 10 and add mihun MYR 4 but the seller thought I wanted takeaway so she packed the mihun soup in plastic bags. Since I over ordered as usual because I wanted to eat like everything, I agreed to take the kampar mihun soup home as takeaway.

4.04 pm - we shared the kampar mihun soup as dinner. He also bought 2 packs of steamed chicken thigh and siew yuk MYR 15 x 2 for his dinner and the elderly's lunch. Another lunch meal for the elderly is 3jc mihun soup MYR 9 nett.

10.47 am - this is the kampar mihun stall at Swee Hing coffee shop.

I thought these 4 items would be included in the kampar items but no, they are not. Next time, I will order these four items if they are available. No price listed for them.

After So Long

On Wednesday 2.mar.22, we went to PJ to run an errand and stopped by O&S coffee shop to buy takeaway food. Many of the stalls that we like are closed for the day so we bought food from the stalls that are opened for business.

10.50 am - noticed this rojak stall so bought a pack of fruit rojak and one each of 5 types of jelly from it. The 5 types of jelly are still in my fridge, waiting to be eaten.

1.39 pm -. The remaining fruit rojak for me. Crunchy pieces of fruit in sweet rojak sauce. Nice!

This is the number for this rojak and jelly stall.

12.30 noon - his lunch of kway teow soup from O&S coffee shop. Normally they will include cubes of blood curd but they don't have it this time. MYR 7.50 nett.

1 pm - I saw this snack so bought a tub to try. I am not sure what this snack is called. MYR 26 nett.

Around 9 cm in diameter. Very crunchy. It is similar to eating peanuts and anchovies together because the cracker is just a thin piece compared to the number of peanuts. I hope it won't go soft as I will need a few weeks to finish eating all the pieces in this tall container.

1 pm - I ate the remaining kway teow soup he kept for me with the snack.

Saw this kuih pulut at the same stall with the snack so bought one pack of 6 pieces to show him as he said he doesn't know what I am talking about when I described this childhood snack to him. MYR 5.50 nett.

It is sweet and I need to eat the remaining 5 pieces to see what other taste I could get. Unfortunately he doesn't even want to try it so I have to eat all 6 pieces by myself. One a day so 6 days to clear this item. Serves me right for buying food without a clear idea of who is going to eat it. 🤣😂

Also bought:

1. 7 deep fried chempedak from a motorcycle stall parked opposite the coffee shop. MYR 10 nett. I ate 5. Sweet and tasty but oily.

2. 3 Deep fried nian gao sweet potato and 1 deep fried banana at MYR 1.50 nett each. He ate 1 nian gao and I ate the remaining 3.

3. Dry wanton noodles at MYR 7.50 nett for the next day's dinner.

4. Large mixed beef mihun soup at MYR 10.50 nett for the next day's breakfast.

5. From the corner coffee shop behind O&S coffee shop, I bought hainan char drink at MYR 3 nett but was given milk tea drink and pork mihun soup at MYR 7.50 nett which he ate the whole bowl of pork mihun soup for dinner as I didn't want any.

Too bad many of the stalls are closed else I would have bought popiah and Chee Cheung fun too. I think it may be another year before I visit this coffee shop again.

Swee Hing Rojak

Swee Hing coffee shop in Sri Petaling is one of the coffee shops I go to every week to buy takeaway food.

On the right of this photo is the Rojak stall of Swee Hing coffee shop.

It is operated by a teenager.

These are the ingredients.

I usually asked for no sotong.

Tofu, potatoes, coconut fritters are part of the ingredient.

Sometimes I asked for no gravy. The gravy is sweetish peanut gravy. The bag contains raw beansprouts, julienned cucumbers and jicama.

No peanut gravy this time.

Because I have remaining curry gravy from another meal in the fridge.

Once I requested for no cut so the fritter, tofu and coconut fritter are not cut into slices. I buy this Rojak almost weekly. The price is between MYR 6 to 7 nett.
