Bhai Biryani OUG Parklane

On Wednesday 3.aug.22, it is regular hospital visit day, 2 kids with 2 elderlies waited from 9 am to 3 pm. At 10.22 am, the number is 1016 and their number is 1082, 66 persons in front of them. The Elderlies are used to it because they have been doing this for about 10 years.

At home all day, I ordered 2 Foodpanda deliveries because I have two free deliveries which will expire on 7.aug.22 and 1 grabfood delivery.

*** My food selection ***

As we have been eating chapfan lunch for about a month now, I suddenly thought of eating biryani so I searched Foodpanda and ordered the following food.

2.09 pm - the potato curry and onion cucumber raita is included in the biryani dish: lamb biryani and mackerel fish biryani. As the raita is made with yogurt, he will not eat this raita so I ate all of it.

2.21 pm - lamb biryani. The rice is flavourful but not salty. I ate a quarter of the rice and kept it in the fridge for the next day. The portion is large.

At about 4 pm when he reached home, he ate the mackerel biryani as a late lunch. He says he detected ghee in the biryani rice so he doesn't want to eat it. Luckily I have already cooked some basmati rice because I suspect he may do this so I have a huge portion of biryani rice to last me for a few days.

12.23 pm - the packaging.

Foodpanda price. I am not sure what is the walk-in Price and portion. I believe NuxV is familiar with this area. This eatery is located at OUG Parklane condo.

They put a few leaflets in the plastic bag. Please click on the above photo for a larger image.

This is a bone from the lamb biryani.

I used it as a straw.

*** His food selection ***

6 pm - his dinner of teriyaki chicken drumstick rice from Mr. Wu eatery. I ate one third of this meal since he couldn't finish it because his late lunch was at about 4 pm.

Mr Wu Happy Garden branch didn't appear on the grabfood app so ordered from the Puchong branch.

*** His next day breakfast ***

5.10 pm - bought siew yuk to reach a certain amount. Needs MYR 40 to use the promo code ten.

The chicken mihun is for tomorrow's breakfast. The deep fried wanton is still crispy and I like the taste so I ate 7 out of 10 and he ate 3 only.

WG Kayra TTDI

My friend likes the food at this eatery in TTDI so the 3 of us went there for lunch one day.

My beetroot drink which was very refreshing at MYR 14+ (10% service charge = MYR 15.40 nett). My friend's tea at MYR 4+ (MYR 4.40 nett). A bowl of biryani rice (MYR 13.20 nett) and a bowl of chicken (MYR 7.70 nett) for sharing.

I ordered the puttu at MYR 6.60 nett and was shocked to see such a gigantic puttu. The puttu has to be eaten with curry gravy as it is quite dry on its own. A bowl of fish curry (MYR 13.20 nett) and one piece of fish marinated in spices (MYR 15.40 nett) for sharing. Drinking water was provided foc for all.

My friend recommended Mushroom Ularthiyathu at MYR 19.80 nett and it was delicious! All dishes are slightly spicy and very tasty with the various fragrant spices used to cook them.

Total price is MYR 95.70 nett for 3 pax.

Next time I will order this Vegetarian Thali.

We ordered 3 items from this Weekday Add-on menu.

Poppo Kanteen again

Since Poppo Kanteen is a new eatery in Sri Petaling, we went back to try other items on their menu, especially the mutton and beef dishes.

Briyani Gam Mutton - MYR17.90 nett. There is a lot of mutton underneath the rice. The mutton is tender but the dark gravy is on the sweet side with a strong taste of star anise and clove which is unlike the taste of briyani gam mutton that I have eaten before. There are pieces of carrots and potatoes in the small bowl of curry given. The acar (pickled raw cucumber, onion, pineapple) is sourish sweet and tasty.

Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang (Coconut milk rice with chicken cooked in spices and coconut milk) - MYR8.90 nett. We ordered Beef Rendang but was told it was sold out so we chose chicken rendang. They gave us a big piece of chicken breast meat but the default portion of rice given was quite small, good for people who wants to consume less carbohydrates.

Cendol - MYR4.90 nett - it is sweet with a tinge of saltiness in the coconut milk on coarse ice shavings and there are corn niblets which is not usually present in cendol.

Poppo Cham (cold) - MYR4.90 nett - cham means mix in Cantonese and normally for cham, it will be a mix of tea and coffee but this Poppo Cham drink has milo in it too. The milo taste in this drink overpowered the coffee and tea so we will order the usual cham next time because we prefer coffee and tea.

Total: MYR36.60 nett. We will be back because I have yet to try their mutton curry and beef rendang.

Krishna Curry House

Back to food in the Klang Valley. Finally I went to try Phong Hong's favourite banana leaf rice and briyani rice.

These were the vegetables and condiments for the banana leaf rice that day we were there. We chose plain white rice instead of briyani rice for the banana leaf rice. No service charge, only 6% GST is applied to the price. Banana leaf rice costs MYR6.50 + 6% GST = MYR6.90 per person.

We also ordered the chicken briyani (MYR14+ = MYR14.50), squid (MYR6+ = MYR6.35) and the famous mutton curry in claypot (MYR12+ = MYR12.75).

This piece of fish costs MYR7+ (MYR7.40) with the same pot of chicken briyani rice for size comparison.

This is so unique - an order chit with pictures. We ordered a mango lassi (MYR4.50+ = MYR4.80) and a cup of coffee (MYR1.50+ = MYR1.60).

Extra charge (MYR5) for sharing but this notice is put behind the payment counter so it is not that visible. I guess the person taking the order will inform the customers about this when necessary unless this "ruling" is not enforced.

This is the famous place. I read from some other blogs that the food here used to be much nicer but I wouldn't know since I have not been here before. It was a satisfying meal but since the location is quite far from where I stay, I don't think I will visit here again. I would rather go to other banana leaf rice eateries nearer to my place. My friend said that she prefers the banana leaf rice at Restaurant Curry Leaf, Damansara Uptown because the spices taste in their curries are more pronounced than this place.

Total bill came up to MYR61.50 which I consider to be not very expensive. They put fresh coconut instead of mango lassi on the bill due to both having the same price.

D Best Briyani Rice

Mutton Briyani Rice - MYR15+ (MYR15.90) - with plain Lassi (Yogurt drink) without salt and without sugar so it was quite sour and I like it that way - MYR6 ++ 6% service charge = MYR6.35 with curry gravy and yogurt chutney (I think).

I thought Fierce Briyani is the best until my friend brought me here to taste this briyani rice. The rice is so very soft and fluffy that I thought I was eating thick broken mee hoon (rice vermicelli). I was so impressed that I brought my eating group to eat here too.

I requested for the mutton curry to be not so spicy. The mutton is soft and tender, just delicious! My friend ordered the prawn briyani and I don't think it is as good as the mutton's because the prawns were a bit too salty and the texture is a bit too firm. Best stick to mutton briyani.

Our bill Tot MYR62.55 - The prawn Briyani costs MYR18+
