Mango chutney

I like to eat banana leaf rice (MYR7.50) and when I read about the tasty mango chutney at this place, I had to go and eat it. The mango chutney is right next to the curry gravy on top of the rice. The skin is still on the mango and I ate it as well. Taste quite like the pickled mango skin I used to eat when I was a little girl but sweeter and I can detect a slight glue taste to it so I did not quite like it as I thought I would.

Mutton curry - MYR10

\
Papadam and deep fried gourd - part of the banana rice meal

Deep fried gourd up close.

Nasi Lemak fried chicken - MYR6.60

Mango Lassi - MYR6.20 - sweet and I can taste lychee syrup - so strange

We did not sit upstairs where air-cond is available

This is the popular place due to the affordable price

No service charge but GST = yes.
The MYR2.50 is for iced Nescafe coffee. 3 of us ate banana leaf rice so that accounts for the MYR22.50 shown in the receipt above.

Kolo mee

This kolo mee only costs MYR5.5 at a nearby local coffee shop. This meal can last me for quite sometime because there is a lot of noodle.

1 for 2

This is a meal shared by two persons. I don't remember the price. It is a bowl of chinese-style curry chicken. When I say chinese-style, I mean that the curry is not that spicy and leans more towards creamy due to the coconut milk used. The red oil is all looks and no substance for people who like their curry to be super spicy. As I can't take very spicy food, I love this kind of curry minus the red oil.

Mooi Mooi

Siew Yuk (Roast Pork) for 2 pax - very crunchy skin.

My rice (very oily) - small portion

Self service soup - dry vege with chicken feet - one can take as many times as one like. My spouse ordered a regular sized rice, all of the above costs MYR15 and we did not ask for the itemised bill so we do not know how much each item costs.

Other than roast pork belly, they sell roast chicken too.

Where the roast pork was being chopped into small pieces

This is the eatery. Located in Happy Garden opposite a four faced golden buddha temple.

So cute!

This is a typical sized rice bowl where we eat rice from. What is in it?

A mini pineapple. Very sweet, almost like being fermented into wine. I am not sure what variety of pineapple this is. Never seen it being sold in supermarket. I even ate the core but not the stem of course.

We were eating in a coffee shop when a girl came around selling these in a packet of 3s for MYR10. I was curious so I bought a pack to try.

Yang Kee Revisited

My last visit here was in April 21 last year so it is almost one year ago.

Mixed beef noodle (dry) small portion - MYR7 (to add 6% GST to this price) and this time the minced meat was not as salty as the previous visit.

The bowl of mix beef items in soup comes with the bowl of noodle. The other bowl is the same bowl of braised beef with radish in photo 1, a small portion for MYR8 (to add 6% GST to this price) just like last year but this time they did not give us any radish (white lobak). The braised beef was tender and very delicious and there were quite a number of pieces in the small bowl.

It was around 3pm on a Saturday, way after lunch time but almost all the tables were occupied. The eatery itself looks brighter than last year with a new coat of paint and a wall partition between the kitchen and the dining area. They even put up pretty noren (traditional Japanese fabric dividers hung between rooms).

The wall with a glass window to the kitchen was not there last year. There is also a noren hung at the doorway to the kitchen.

The rest of the eatery looks the same.

Front Facade looks the same too. Yang Kee at OUG.

Red dates, lotus seeds, ginkgo, white fungus tong sui boiled with Luo Han Guo (the fruit of Siraitia grosvenorii aka Arhat fruit) so that it is sweet without needing to use any sugar. Cooked by my mother,

Still affordable?

MYR0.99 per 100g for Chicken Breast

MYR0.79 per 100g for 9 pieces cut of a chicken. Please click on the photo to get a larger image.

Is this price lower than the price at wet market?

MYR9.90 per kg for chicken breast so both places sell chicken breast meat at the same price. I guess chicken keel is cheaper than drumsticks and since I like to eat chicken breast meat I only check out their prices. I think some may say must buy organic chicken because of the hearsay growth hormones used. Well if you can afford organic chicken by all means buy them if you wish.

Mines

2 bowls of cendol at MYR5.90 each ++6% GST. We requested for more shaved ice because ..

at another outlet, the cendol came like this, most of the shaved ice have melted and we requested for more shaved ice which they brought to us in another bowl foc. I wonder when they will start to charge for  additional shaved ice when more and more customers request for it.

Penang Curry Mee - MYR8.90 need to add 6% to the price making it MYR9.40 - very creamy curry.

Rojak at MYR7.90 (+6%). Can't really see much here as the fruits were all covered with sweet thick sauce and crushed peanuts.

This receipt did not include the 6% GST into the price of the food item but calculated it at the end of the receipt. They did put in our request into the receipt - more ice, less sweet.

Please click on the menu to view it as a bigger file.

Mulberries

Just plucked

My mother's mulberry plant with fruits

Half eaten mulberry - sourish sweet, I like eating them.

One of Each

What do you do when you do not know which one to buy? Just get one of each type and try them all to find your favourite to buy next time. I don't even know how much each item costs above, the seller just pick one each for me and tell me the total price to pay.

Ampang Point

Beef glass noodle (tung hoon) - MYR13.50 - this price includes a cup of hot tea. The receipt adds another 6% to this price and labelled it as service charge.

Beef noodle - same price as the above.

Dumpling noodle - same price too but with quite small dumplings so I think the beef noodle is better value for money.

There were many people eating here and this small eatery has been in business for more than 10 years so business must be good.
