Yang Kee

With the water rationing going on where each place is supplied 2 days of water alternately, we will go to places where they are having their 2nd day of water supply for meals. The previous Friday, it was at Overseas Union Garden (OUG). We looked around OUG and settled on Yang Kee which is near to the morning street market. The last time we ate in this eatery is 10 years ago.

We ordered two bowls of beef noodles (small for MYR6.5 each) - one with beef meat balls only and one with mixed beef items - and one small bowl of beef meat and white radish stew (MYR8). Prices are nett so total bill came up to MYR21 as we did not order any drinks.

This is the bowl of mixed beef items closeup shot and I did not include the bowl of noodles here.

Close up of the beef and white radish stew - very tasty with sizable melt-in-your-mouth tender beef pieces and not salty at all - the taste is just right.

This is the minced beef that we removed from our bowls of noodle and did not eat because it is too salty. It was like eating salt directly. While we were debating whether to feed back to the lady-in-charged, we overheard another couple telling the lady-in-charged that the minced beef was salty during their last visit when they were ordering their meal so we decide to feed back that this time it is salty too but all the lady-in-charged did was asked the other customers whether it is salty or not, without bothering to go to the kitchen to taste it herself. One man said not salty, another couple said yes.

To the couple who just placed their order and complained about the salty minced beef, the lady-in-charged just replied "give you less minced beef then". Guess we will not be ordering the noodles with minced beef if we ever decide to visit again but what I can safely say is Soong Kee Beef Noodles at Jalan Tun Tan Siew in KL town serves better minced beef in their beef noodles.
