WG Vegetarian Millet Dumpling

When my friend went back to Medifoods, PJ to get her foc tofufa, I bought more vegetarian chang (dumplings). There are 3 types in this photo as identifiable by the strings with different colours.

Glutinous rice nyonya dumpling (MYR 5.30 nett) and millet nyonya dumpling (MYR 6.30 nett).

I have no idea how they make millets stick together like glutinous rice. It has a faint floral fragrant (from the cekur ginger I guess) and the fillings are a bit sweet and a bit spicy.

I am not sure why they list the price as MYR 6.40 nett when on the bill, they only charge MYR 6.30 nett.

Glutinous Rice Nyonya Dumpling. The white glutinous rice is soft so I like it and I believe I tasted some ground roasted peanuts in the slightly spicy and sweet fillings. I have never eaten an authentic nyonya dumpling before so I cannot comment on this point.

Oh, so it does have peanuts in it. These nyonya dumplings are sourced from Mary Ann's Kitchen.

I wonder whether this is a regular item that they sell or is it a seasonal item. Will ask them next time.

  1. Never had millet chang before - I sure would love to try. Would be a good alternative for people who find glutinous rice hard to digest.

  5. The millet dumpling is very interesting. I saw a banner for vegetarian dumplings today at a vegetarian bakery when I passed by. I must go check them out.
