Happy Mid autumn Festival

My friend gave me this bag with two mooncakes during a gift-exchange.

Royal Fairy - Lotus Paste fillings with some mung bean fillings. It is supposed to have fragrant Kwei Hua sugar syrup added to the fillings to enhance its taste.

Shanghai Moon cake.

Cross-section.

Yellow patch of mung bean fillings.

  1. We used to be able to get Overseas' mooncakes here, Tai Thong, Baker's Cottage...all the well-known names but not anymore. Nobody buying, I guess - too expensive.

  2. Happy mid-autumn to you, Mun. The Shanghai mooncake looked lovely. I thought Shanghai mooncake was with flaky skin but apparently not.

  3. The bag is nice to carry. Am I getting an exchange with you??
Last night I went to Starling hoping to get lelong & clearance moon cakes for the All Nuts flavour. I was stunned to hear that everything was sold out except this All Nuts and Chocolate flavours which were so unpopular. I happily bought few few nutty ones.

  10. I love Shanghai mooncakes as I like the buttery pastry. These days, I go for those low sugar types as I find mooncakes to be very sweet.
