Dong Po Rou Sri Petaling

On Saturday 31.aug.2024, happy merdeka day! 

*** Ha Er Bin Sri Petaling ***

We reached this eatery at 11.30 am but it was still doing preparation activities and the shuttles were half opened so we went to Luckee eatery a few shops away to eat his breakfast and then at 12.20 noon, go back to this Ha Er Bin eatery for brunch.

There are affordable set lunch meals with a meat dish, soup, rice and appetiser but we ordered from the ala carte menu because we don't want to eat rice, just want to try out the meat items.

12.30 noon - Dong Po Rou MYR 23.80+
The marinate has a bit of herbal taste. I ate one piece including all the wobbly fats and he ate the remaining 3 pieces.

Next time we will try the big slices pork belly and pork trotter.

12.31 noon - minced meat ball with one duck egg yolk called lion's head MYR 16.80+
Taste ok, the duck egg yolk is not salty at all.

12.29 noon - we ordered one egg each at MYR 2.80+ each and one plate of pork ribs MYR 21.80+ which is marinated with dark soy sauce.

12.31 noon - I ordered 4 chives meat Sui gao and 4 cabbages meat Sui gao. Total MYR 12+

12.34 noon - cross section. Taste ok. I prefer the chives Sui gao.

12.48 noon - total price MYR 84.80 nett.

12.49 noon - shop front 

12.49 noon - this eatery is next to chai Thai eatery.

*** Luckee Sri Petaling ***

11.46 am - his order of noodles with two items which he chose to be daikon and duck blood cubes. One iced coffee.

11.57 am - I ate this remaining portion of noodles. The daikon tastes very good πŸ‘ πŸ˜‹ 

*** Avocado πŸ₯‘ ***

1.53 pm - when back, I ate rainbows sprouted grains bread with the remaining half avocado πŸ₯‘ that he kept for me before closing my Omad.

  1. I went to ha er bin on last Thurs, saw the pork so fatty, i opted for chicken instead.

    1. You ate the chicken set meal? This Dong po Rou dish is authentic. Dong po Rou dish is supposed to use this fatty cut of meat but it is not that oily because the oil has been cooked out of the fatty layers.
      It is smooth and wobbly and very fragrant.

    2. I had the chicken set, just to get the taste of the gravy. Yea, I've eaten authentic dong po rou before in China. Just that I wasn't keen on eating fatty meat these days.

    3. Oic. The staff told me that each of the gravy is different for each dish. So how was the chicken? Nice?

    4. The chicken was slow cooked. The meat can easily tear off and easy to eat. I think the difference in gravy is one has melted pork fats, and the chicken is with chicken fatsπŸ˜‚

    5. Thanks for the review of the chicken. Each of their gravy is different they say. For the pork ribs that we ordered, the gravy has no herbal taste, the dong por Rou gravy has herbal taste. The trotter gravy has rock sugar taste. We need to find out the pork belly gravy so will order it next time.
