Once a week

I ate this plate of char kway teow some time ago so I have forgotten how much it costs. I tend to eat a plate of char kway teow once a week because I like to eat the kway teow, prawns and eggs but not the lard and not the slices of chinese sausage so I will request for them to be omitted if I know the stall/eatery includes them in the ckt dish.

  1. I'm not a fan of chinese sausage too but I love having kerang in my CKT. It's a must for me.

    1. I like to eat these bean sprouts too. The dish your mom cooked sounds very tasty with tofu and beef with the bean sprouts.

  4. Everyone likes ckt.. I like mine with "sang hum" (raw cockles) and they will put the cooked noodles on top of the "hum", and extra taugeh and cili, yummzzz...

    1. Oh you like the blood cockles to be on the raw side eh? Some put chili before stir fying the CKT so the noodles are spicy.

  5. I fried my own yesterday - very much cheaper than eating out, maybe just one third of the price per serving. Photo of that coming soon!

  6. oooh the CKT looks really good!!! no wonder your eat this once a week.. hmmm, I would instead like just the yellow noodles with no chili, and then to have the cockles fully cooked, haha!!

    1. I like to eat the yellow noodles only too but they are not ckt because they are not kway teow and to me, they have a totally different taste to ckt but both I like.

  7. As long as you did not omit the see hum then I guess it is still fine...

    1. They did not giive me see hum in the above plate because it turned out to be someone else's order that says do not want see hum but later they made it up by giving me a bowl of see hum but at that time I finished the ckt already so I just ate the bowl of see hum on their own.

    2. What the... the hum have to fry in the noodles together lah! Give in separate bowl is pretty pointless what? @.@ ... I probably will ban this place if they replace the hum for me like that..

    3. It was a misunderstanding. The person having that plate of Ckt gave it to me because I ordered first and waited quite a long time already without realising that she asked for the see hum to be omitted and I also did not realise it too until my plate was brought out with the see hum and she said oh no and then they have to do a new plate of CKT for her.

  8. I only see prawns, egg, taugeh and chives in your plate of CKT. I like mine with everything...see hum, fish cakes, Chinese sausages and, of course, lard included! ;)

    1. You see correct. You like fish cakes in ckt too? To me, fish cakes have no place in CKT and I will also asked for them to be omitted.

    2. Yes, I agree that fish cakes (like Chinese sausages) have no place in an authentic plate of ckt but I don't mind having a few pcs of it in mine. The Chinese sausages especially brings a fragrant taste to the ckt.

    3. I find Chinese sausages on the sweet side and fatty too.
