Burrito

We were too full to eat the burrito so we took it home.

The Burrito Base has rice, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, Pico de Gallo (a salad made from raw tomato, onion, cilantro/coriander, lime juice) and we chose slow cooked beef as the meat filling. It was thick and fat, all wrapped up in a piece of aluminium foil so it was easy to take home. MYR16.90+ (MYR17.91)

The soft tortilla has turned a bit soggy when we arrived home so it is best to eat it on the spot.

As it is so thick, we could not eat it by holding it upright like a banana so we cut it into half and eat it with a spoon. I prefer the burrito to be thinner so that I can hold it upright to eat it.

There is a lot of beef in it as can be seen from the photo. Since we ate it with a spoon, it was like eating a normal rice meal with beef.

  1. Yup. the style of eating will make the entire eating experience different. like having chicken satays without the stick. they shouldnt use rice, instead french fries.

    1. You have eaten burritos with french fries in them? It is common to put rice in them as I have found out that even TacoBell in US put rice in their burritos.

  2. Easy to take away away wrapped like that. I like that you have the option of brown rice and wholemeal tortillas.

    1. I did not eat it like that because I was afraid that the rice will fall out all over the place.

  6. oooh, there is rice in the burritos?? well, i think i would prefer mine without the rice, or maybe just rice with beef without the wraps.. instead of rice, i will like to have more veggie instead.. do they have special custom orders instead of choosing from their 1-2-3 steps menu?? like i want to skip 2 but double the 3?? :p

    1. Yes, rice! TacoBell (US Taco chain) has rice in their burritos too. 3 is sauce wor Sauce is self service, you can put as much sauce as you like, hehehehe. I don't think they do special custom orders.

    1. Must be very tasty since it was cold and late, I guess both of you must be very hungry at that time. Any photos?

  8. I think if you didn't unwrap it totally like the way you did but peeled off bit by bit the aluminium foil from the top, I think you can eat it holding it upright. I don't see much cheese inside, maybe I can try this.

    1. I only taste the cheese in the quesadillas. No cheese taste at all for the tacos and burritos and nachos. You can try all 3 but not the quesadillas. I think if eat upright all the rice would fall out because it is so fat.

    1. You eat it immediately after you get it - won't be soft that way.

  10. Didn't know got rice inside one. Should be very filling like that.

  11. No! That's not the right way to eat burrito! Burrito should only be eaten by holding upright, like banana, though you might make a mess out of it! :D

When I was in those Mexican restaurants in Loveland, they do serve something like burrito, where the tortilla was placed on a plate and the ingredients poured over it, but it was not wrapped. They have another name for that dish.

    1. Yes, it will be a mess with the rice falling out. You mean Tostada or something else?

  13. I remember eating a gigantic burrito in Germany! I think it was our last day in Frankfurt am Main and all the shops were closed (they close quite early there, just like in Australia) and we ended up at a new Mexican restaurant! It was good. :)

  17. What a pity that it turned soft at home. I think we should not wrap so tight with foil which made it wet. I am learning this today! TQ

    1. I don't think it is meant to be taken away to be eaten elsewhere. Meant to be eaten there and then I guess.
