New eatery at One Utama Lower Ground Floor - now those who have a craving for braised food Teo Chew style while shopping here know where to head to for a fix.
Looks like a nice place to enjoy Teo Chew braised food. He he I like mine with sambal belacan!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing sambal belacan provided here.
DeleteLooks a bit like the kway chap, I would like to try the braised duck
ReplyDeleteI remember eating kway chap in Singapore but the noodles are like bigger sheets rather than thin like hor fun.
DeleteI like the red lanterns hanging from the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteIf you like red lanterns, have you watched the "Raise the Red Lantern" movie directed by Zhang Yimou?
DeleteThat mixed platter is calling out to me... Drool! Drool! Hmmm...1U...nobody ever takes me there. :(
ReplyDeleteNext time the LRT is ready, will be easy to go there.
DeleteThe braised pork platter looks so good, full of collagen goodness, yummzzz...
ReplyDeleteYes, I can see the pig skin there.
DeleteI always walked by passed this one, not yet try it.
ReplyDeleteYou always go to One Utama? This place only opened like one month ago, I think.
DeleteI am a Teochew but I have not heard about Teochew Kia before!! muahahaha, what a shame.. and what is the Teochew Kia actually?? noodles in soup to go with the braised stuffs?? I usually have the Teochew Muey (rice porridge) to go with it, though I won't take the intestines..
ReplyDeleteI also don't know what Kia means in Teo Chew. What about the stomach, do you eat the stomach?
DeleteI am a Teochew too and we call ourselves Teochew Nang or Teowchew Kia! (children???)
DeleteI guess someone needs to ask the eatery owner what he means by kia.
DeleteI suspect you did not eat it, so it is pointless to ask you if it is nice?
ReplyDeleteHahaha, you are right I did not eat any food from the mixed platter. Just tested a mouthful of the noodle.
DeleteOh this looks really good! I shall definitely visit. :)
ReplyDeleteYou like to eat braised food Teochew style?
DeleteYeah yeah. :)
DeleteGo eat go eat. :)
DeleteI'm guessing you only had the Kway Teow Kia! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. I only tested one mouthful of the noodle.
Deletelooks good.. what are those skin-like meat along with the braised pork?
ReplyDeletePig stomach.
DeleteI have updated the post to list out the food items in the mixed platter.
DeleteThat mixed platter is like what we have here that we called "kuaw chap".
ReplyDeleteAnd I understand that the kuaw chap in Kuching is originated by Teochew immigrants from China many years ago.
DeleteWhat does Kuaw Chap means? I ate Kway Chap in Singapore before and I thought it refers to the big pieces of flat sheet noodle.
DeleteThe Mixed Platter with Kway Teow Kia Set Meal looks very tasty. someone i would go for. but getting older, looks a bit fattening dy. tsk tsk. and yea, is that kuaw chap?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what it is called. When eating pork belly, can remove the fat and just eat the little lean meat left.
DeleteThe first pic... well..... welll!!!!I just died! I love port fats. :)

ReplyDeleteI have eaten kway chap in Singapore Chinatown, People's Park food court many years ago.
Deleteummm I just went... I think it say kway teow kia... i.e. Small kway teow...
