Sang Har Mee

When we walked into the Low Mee coffee shop in Batang Kali, we asked them to recommend some dishes to us and Sang Har Mee (Fresh water prawns noodles) was in the list. We did not ask for the price but straight away order a portion for 1 person so imagine our surprise when the dish arrived looking like this.

The Prawns were huge! There were 4 halves in the plate above making it 2 huge prawns so it is definitely not a portion for 1 person in our books so we were guessing among the 3 of us, how much this dish will cost - we would have to pay the price for not asking for the price before ordering.

Can see the creamy golden roe in the prawns which tastes like sea urchin roe. The flesh is thick and firm. The yee mee was hidden underneath the prawns. Delicious dish! So what do you think was the price?

  1. You know, I learned what is sang har the exact same way as you now hahaha! I learned my lesson like 8 years ago, and it was RM 30+ for 1 prawn with noodles. With 2 prawns now, RM 80+?

  2. wow, really very huge prawns!! at first i thought those were crabs instead, hahaha!! oh, you did not even bother to ask the price, hmmm, that's a bit risky huh?? it's always not cheap, or indeed notoriously expensive, for sang har mien.. okay, let me guess, should be somewhere RM70??

    1. The shell of the head is as big as a small smell of a crab.

  4. That's around RM50 here but it seems they are cheaper there. Demand here exceeds supply...so the sellers all sharpen their knives real sharp. Go to the market - can buy one whole kilo, more than 10 of these big ones - coming soon in my blog!

    1. I think I have eaten at Cravings before. The sang har is not as big as this.

  7. OMG....can hardly see the mee...looks more like prawns in a sweet-sour egg gravy. You should have put a spoon there to let us judge the size...some of these can easily weigh 400g each, so it's probably between RM80-90. The ones I've eaten is about RM70 for 2 prawns pre-GST.
