Waste of Stomach Space

A waste of Stomach Space a.k.a Beef Carbonara - MYR9.90 ++  = MYR10.40

Let's just say eating at this place was not my choice but a vote by the majority. Against my better judgement,  I ordered the above dish when I should have just ordered the chicken hor fun soup at MYR6.90++ = MYR7.25. Sure the hor fun could turn out to be just as bad but then it is MYR3.15 cheaper.

Well, call me a pasta snob but I only eat my pasta at authentic Italian restaurants which means I only get to eat pasta once in a blue moon. From the photo, I am sure you can tell what is wrong with this pasta meal.

The worst thing is that there was a lump of salt either on a piece of beef bacon or on the pasta itself and it was so salty that it was burning my mouth and I took a while to decide whether to spit the whole ugly mess out of my mouth in front of the majority or to just swallow it. Guess what, again, against my better judgement I swallowed it and had to drink glasses and glasses of water the whole day.

I am not even going to name this place. Just look at the pasta of other diners. If you see one that looks like the photo above, then you know what to do.

  1. Eating lunch with colleagues? Same like you, I think I will swallow instead of spitting, scared people say I 'ba pai' if I eat one mouth then spit out, hehe.. What the majority order? I will follow majority if I'm not familiar with the place and food..

    1. Yes, you are so right Princess Ribbon. Actually I should have used a paper napkin and spat out the mouthful of food into it. The majority ordered chicken mushroom pasta which looks exactly like my dish except instead of beef bacon, they put tiny pieces of chicken meat. The sauce is exactly the same, just as watery. So follow the majority also will be a major fail. :(

  2. Gosh! It sure looks bad. The pasta sauce is so watery. Many such places here - their pasta, can just write off, not worth the calories at all.

    1. That's why I never, never order pasta when I eat out except when there is really no other food to order. This time I made a mistake.

  4. I'm not as rigid as you, but.. that plate sure looks horrible. They cost saving by adding lots of water into the carbonara sauce?? And a lump of salt? Yucks! The chef is a worse cook than me!

    1. I am actually a big fan of pasta. Actually cannot say never try, never know because if I actually look at this pasta dish before I order, I would know that it is not tasty but I did not bother to look at what diners at the other tables were eating. I should have looked or went for the safer option - chicken hor fun soup. Bad food should not be tried.

    1. That's what it says on the menu - Carbonara Beef. Ah, I made a bad decision, should have just spat the mouthful out into the paper napkin instead of swallowing the lump of salt. :(

  8. I guess you won't make that mistake again! True, true, order pasta only at those places where you are certain that they know what they are cooking :)
