Okra

Fried chicken, squid (sotong) curry, sambal with half a hard boiled egg rice - MYR19.90 - enough to be shared by 2 persons. Is this considered nasi lemak? It did not have the peanuts and fried anchovies that I consider must-have for nasi lemak.

Tender ladyfingers (5) with sambal - MYR6.90

Soy drink with cincau (grass jelly) and cendol - MYR7.90

Papparich,

Total Bill: MYR38.15 (2 pax)

  3. Oh? Pappa Rich! Ya, nice place, nice food - been a couple of times...but not exactly cheap. The okra looks just like how we would have it at home. The rice combo looks good.

    1. I somehow think pappa rich provides meals with more value for money than old town.

  4. Those RM 0.80, RM 1 nasi lemak packed in banana leaves also don't have anchovies and peanuts I think, so I think it is fine :P
I had trouble ordering ladies finger when I first came to Penang, they had no idea what I want even after trying ladies finger, okra, yong kok dao... turns out it is called bendi in Penang @.@

  6. That plate of nasi lemak set up there looks really good. But how's the taste? I went to Paparich once before and if I remember correctly I had their nasi lemak too. But I can't remember what it looked like. It was just alright for me.

    1. That slimy texture is the best part of okra. Plant based collagen FTW!

    2. My mouth is not as sensitive. I have never felt the tiny hairs when eating okra. :)

  9. I love the choices above.. yes, shared by two persons will be fine.. okra is one of my favourite vegetable... steamed and eaten with sambal is best too! Only a bit overpriced but then with aircon and good service, it is expected... nowadays nothing is cheap anymore, right?

    1. Actually we can eat cheap food like the cheapest plain rice with the lowest price chicken meat and vege from Tesco but what is the meaning of life if we do that all the time?
