Kaori again

This time at Kaori restaurant I did not order a set meal. A bowl of basic ramen was enough as my lunch. This bowl of ramen is the cheapest ramen on the menu - MYR10 (MYR11.60 after 10% service charge and 6% govt. tax).

It has half a hard boiled egg, a slice of meat (not sure what meat), a small piece of crab stick, some seaweeds, and a slice of naruto (cured fish surimi with a pink spiral pattern - surimi means fish paste). The ramen noodle tastes more like very springy wanton noodle than those ramen noodle you find in specialty ramen restaurants. But this is the only Japanese restaurant within walking distance for lunch so this will do just fine.

The complimentary appetizer served before the main meal. There were a few young men in our lunch group that do not eat this food at all because they did not like to eat okra.

    2. I was quite surprised when I visit the malls in KL and saw so many offering lunch set specials. I thought it was a Penang thing, to cater for the 'kiam siap' diners :-P

  5. most of the time i will order the bento set when i go to a Japanese restaurant.. but sometimes it will also be good to have a change.. so ramen it is!! and true, from the photo, your ramen looked more like "wantan mee" but of course, there are many many types of ramen - from the soup to the noodles.. at only RM10, i won't mind ordering that, since it can be like RM30 in specialty restaurants..

    1. That is because ramens in specialty restaurants are super special, hence the high price. :)

  6. So far I have never ordered ramen at the Japanese restaurant. I always go for the bento. But after reading SK's post, I am curious about ramen :)

    1. If you are curious about ramen, do eat them in ramen specialty restaurants like Ippudo in Gardens and Pavilion or Menya Mushahi in One Utama but one bowl will set you back about MYR30.

    1. Here at PhileoDamansara1 the variety of food is ok - chinese, malay, western, mamak, japanese but around 10 eateries only so will have to rotate them round the days. Where is your area?
