Tri-Colour Nasi Lemak

Sunday 23.Jul.2023 is our off duty day as kid 1 is on duty to provide lunch and dinner for the Elderlies. We ate chapfan no rice lunch at Tuck Tuck Tei coffee shop at Taman Desa and try out an eatery at Kuchai called Cawan that is occupying the shop unit that previously housed imperial coffee eatery for our early dinner. They may be by the same operator because both eateries have bullet proof coffee drink in the menu.

*** Cawan eatery Kuchai ***

4.12 pm - TRI colour nasi lemak which is meant for two pax so we shared it. The tri colour nasi lemak has a light taste of Pandan and santan aka coconut milk. The 3 pieces of papadum are crispy and flavourful.

The pieces of boneless fried chicken are very tasty with nam yue taste. The sambal sotong aka squid is quite spicy. The pickled cucumbers and acar are sourish Sweet and appetising. Next time we will order fried chicken nasi lemak because the sambal sotong is too spicy for me.

4.10 pm - ginger wine soup chicken mihun MYR 15.90+. Both of us are shocked by the huge portion so I took home most of the mihun. The minced ginger in the soup has a very strong ginger taste. I think it is the famous Bentong ginger. Next time we have to just order this one bowl of mihun to share.

4.03 pm - his iced Cham drink MYR 5+

5.04 pm - ewallet and cash payments only. Total bill MYR 52.60 nett.

4.01 pm - all the types of nasi lemak in the menu. Please click on the above photo to read larger words.

*** Tuck Tuck Tei chap fan ***

11.13 am - his chapfan no rice MYR 8 nett. His iced Cham drink MYR 2.70 nett.

11.18 am - as I have eaten breakfast, I just ate a braised egg, okra, bitter gourd and green beans for lunch. Total price is MYR 3 nett only. Best price chap fan stall.

*** Breakfast ***

10.10 am - he stored the half avocado for me so I ate it for breakfast with a slice of wholemeal bread and 1 hard boiled egg.

  1. The tri-colour nasi lemak sounds absolutely delicious, especially with the crispy papadum and tasty boneless fried chicken. 🍗 And that ginger wine soup chicken mihun… whoa, what a huge portion! No wonder you had to bring some home. 🍜

I totally get you on the spicy sambal sotong, sometimes it can be a bit too much for our taste buds to handle. 😅 But hey, at least you know what to order next time. And it’s great that they accept e-wallet and cash payments, making it convenient for everyone.

  3. The tri-color nasi lemak looks very loaded and delicious. And that soup, the bowl is huge. LOL! It has given me an idea to add ginger to my soup to make it more fragrant.

  4. Pretty coloured rice. Looks like they used natural colouring too.
