Hog Maw

Chicken Slice Hor Fun Curry (MYR 9.90+) and Jumbo Curry (MYR 13.50+) at Oh Ipoh Cafe, Bukit Jalil. Since it was CNY period, there was a 10% surcharge on top of the usual nett price stated on the menu. We are ok with it since we understand that most shops are closed for CNY so it is reasonable to have a surcharge to compensate staff for working during the holidays. The curry is oily but taste is acceptable.

Coffee at MYR 4+ from Oh Ipoh Cafe.

Lunch for two pax at Good Taste, Jalil Link which started business at this location on 19 Sept 2014. The bill for one drink and 3 food items (char siew, 5 sui gao and a small bowl of pork stomach pepper meehoon) is MYR 29.70 nett. I just found out from googling that pork stomach is called hog maw.

  1. Oh? As in fish maw? They do it at the coffee shops here too, jack up the prices during Chinese New Year, first few days...cash in on the people coming back, craving for kampua mee.

  5. Wait wait but fish maw is the swim bladder of the fish. What would a hog need a swim bladder for? Haha.

If they open during CNY it must be because they expect profit to cover extra expenses.... adding a surcharge seems like overdoing it!
