Pho Vietz Sri Petaling

After seeing the long queue outside Pho Vietz at Atria, I am happy to find that Pho Vietz has an outlet in Sri Petaling for me to go to instead of joining the long queue at Atria.

Beef noodle soup - MYR17.90+ (MYR19.69 nett). This dish has a refreshing taste due to the many herbs used and it has lots of beef in it: beef meatballs, thin slices of beef and thick slices of beef so we will definitely order it again.

Fresh Prawn Roll - MYR8.50+ (MYR9.35 nett). I like the taste of the herbs in the filling but the rice paper wrapper is a bit too tough making it difficult to chew.

Drip Coffee with Milk and Ice - MYR7.90+ (MYR8.69 nett). The coffee has a strong roasted taste to it.
Three Layers Dessert/Drink has the same price as the drip coffee.  The coconut milk is way too thick and rich for me so I won't be ordering this again although I like the green jelly (not cendol), sweet corns and red bean that is in the drink. I felt like I was drinking non-diluted coconut milk.

Total bill is MYR46.40 nett. Will return to try other food like lemongrass pork chop rice.

Pablo One Utama

After Tokyo Secret, another Famous Cheese Tart is coming to One Utama but this one comes all the way from Japan. I read that it will be opened in October this year.

I was salivating as I looked through the menu of Pablo in Japan so I hope that all the tarts there will be available here as well. For sure the prices will be expensive and the queue will be long.

Tokyo Secret

This is the kiosk in One Utama. They have a bigger place in IPC.

Tokyo Secret is from Hong Kong and is famous for their cheese tarts. At MYR7.90 nett per tart, I am still thinking whether I should try it or not as I have read that although the cheese taste is strong which I like, it is not as strong as BAKE Cheese Tart (not opened here yet) so should I wait until I have eaten that (available in Japan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Taipei) before eating this?

Another option in the Klang Valley is Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart at Empire Shopping Gallery which I almost never visit. A cheese tart there sells for MYR5.80 nett per piece but I have read online reviews that mentioned that the cheese taste is very light so for those who do not like the strong taste of cheese, you may go for the Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart instead. A few bakeries have also started selling cheese tarts as well. One example is the Lavender bakery - it is selling Cheese Tarts now at MYR6 nett per piece.

Chateraise One Utama

This is Chateraise, a famous cake and French pastry shop from Japan, 2nd branch in Malaysia located in Eat Paradise, Isetan, One Utama since mid June 2016. The first shop is located in KLCC since end March 2016. The price ranges from MYR9.80 nett for a slice of baked cheese cake to MYR18 for a glass of strawberry parfait. A packet of pre packed slice of cake (for example a slice of Japanese sponge cake) costs MYR4.80 nett.

I could not make up my mind what to try. Due to the high price I can only buy limited items and I want to be sure so I will go home and think of what to buy before coming here again.

Updated later:
From the comments asking me to try their top 3 best sellers, I would like to note here that the top 3 best sellers according to what I have read online are:
1. Legendary Fresh Cream Cake (MYR14.80 nett)
2. White Zebra Mille Crepe (MYR14.80 nett) which is a slice of vanilla mille crepe
3. Baked Cheese Cake (MYR9.80 nett)
Out of the above three, I will most likely try the baked cheese cake because I do not quite like to eat fresh cream although I like to eat ice cream.

The price is high because the cakes and pastries use fresh cream from Hokkaido.

Restoran Formosa

Someone wrote on her blog that there is a restaurant in Kuchai Entrepreneur Park that sells authentic Taiwanese food that is better than Fong Lye so we went to have a try.

Braised Pork Rice - MYR6.90++ (MYR7.68 nett) and Salted Vege Pork Stomach Soup - MYR12++ (MYR13.36 nett).

Braised pork rice with salted vegetable. The braised pork was all chopped up and has some fatty bits.

The salted vegetable in this soup is too salty so we left some behind.

Pork with Leeks dumplings (8 in a serving) - MYR9.90++ (MYR13.36 nett). This dish is the main reason I came here.

Lots of leeks in the filling so it is all good but the skin is too thin. I prefer them to be thicker so I am not going to order them again.

Exterior

Spot the Taiwan Island.

Total bill: MYR32.05 nett after applying 5% service charge and 6% GST.

Bursting Meat Ball

At Go Noodle House, One Utama, we also ordered a bowl of Pan Mee Soup at MYR9.50+ (MYR10.45 nett) and add one serving of Bursting Meat Balls (3 meat balls) to it at MYR3.50+ (MYR3.85 nett). One meat ball costs about MYR1.28 nett, not that we can order just one.

We ordered the "tear" noodle type where the noodle dough is rolled into a thin sheet and then tear or cut into broad pieces. Yin choy (amaranth greens), deep fried anchovies, black fungus (cloud ear fungus) cut into thin strips, one piece of fish paste (yu wat) and minced pork were included by default. We can detect wine in the broth.

The bursting meat ball is made out of a smaller pork ball within a bigger and firmer pork ball like the above. The smaller pork ball is more flavourful. The bursting refers to some broth seeping out of this pork meat ball when you bite into it.

You can take as much dip as you like.

It seems like Go Noodle House has almost something for everyone to mix and match for a hearty bowl of soup noodle except for those who would like to eat hor fun instead. We may go try the branch at Midvalley soon.

Go Noodle One Utama

Last Sunday, we went to One Utama and ate brunch at Go Noodle House as per our plan.

1. Choose noodle or pan mee or rice:
a. Noodle - Mi Xian (Thick mee hoon) or Thin Mee Hoon
b. Pan Mee - Thick, Thin or Tear (wide pieces)
c. Rice to go with ala carte soup with chosen ingredients.

2. Choose the soup:
a. Superior Soup (non spicy)
b. Home Made Spicy Soup
c. Dry (for pan mee only)

There is a wide selection of ingredients for you to add to your noodle such as frog meat, grouper fish slices, scallops, clams, fish belly, prawns, fish paste (yu wat), beef slices, pork belly slices, beef balls, blue mussels and bursting meat balls to name a few.

My bowl of Grouper Fish Slices Mi Xian (Thick Mee Hoon) MYR16+ (MYR17.60 nett). The prices stated in the menu are inclusive of the 6% GST but did not include the 10% service charges.

There were 5 grouper fish slices and the broth is not salty at all so I like eating this bowl of noodle although the texture of the fish slices was quite coarse. I think they are somewhat overcooked.

My friend ordered the same item but with thin mee hoon. The price is the same but the broth is salty unlike mine which is not. So inconsistent.

There was no wine in our bowls of fish noodle. It seems that we can buy the wine from this eatery and add it into the broth ourselves. Any unfinished wine left in the bottle will be kept by the eatery for our next visit as can be seen by the many bottles of unfinished wine by other customers on the shelves in the photo above. For this visit, we did not buy any wine.

When we left, there was a queue outside this eatery. Seats were provided for the waiting customers.

Go Noodle House at One Utama is located on the Lower Ground Floor of the new wing.
