Yeast Bistronomy

Today I went to MidValley Mall and noticed a new restaurant serving breakfast from 8 am to 11 am. I googled and found that it is an outlet of a French restaurant in Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar. It just opened at this mall a week ago.

2 Soft Poached Eggs on Brioche Toast with Smoked Salmon, Bearnaise Sauce and Greens MYR27 and I requested for the Bearnaise Sauce to be served separately because my spouse does not like butter based sauce.

Instead of Smoked Salmon, there is another option with Turkey Ham which costs MYR22.

The poached eggs look like steamed rice cakes (put chai ko) here. Inside the solid tender whites, the yokes are runny so my spouse ate these eggs. I find the smoked salmon a bit salty for me.

Brioche French Toast with Caramelized Apples MYR18. Thick soft and fluffy toast - sweet and rich tasting.

Smoked Duck & Gruyere Cheese Puff MYR17 - the pastry is light, flaky and very buttery. There are enough duck pieces inside and the taste is just right - rich, flavourful and not too salty.

Coffee - MYR7. Total bill came to MYR73.15 after 6% GST with no service charge.

Water are served foc. After 5 pm,  takeaways enjoy a 30% discount for bread and pastries. Items on the lunch menu include escargots and duck confits.

It is a few shops away from Delicious and Antipodean

You can choose to sit at the counter to watch the cooks at work, along the walkway, in the open area or in the enclosed air-conditioned dining area.

  3. Opens from 8AM? Perfect, they will be doing extra business with early birds then. Breakfast first before grocery shopping instead of the other way round!

  10. The French toast was awesome looking. Thick and sweet I sure. Haha. The poached eggs look like glutinous rice balls if you did not mentioned it.

  11. That poached eggs reminded me of glutinous rice! Haha.

I like French toast but I prefer it savoury than sweet. But I do not mind to try new food.

    1. What about breakfast served in the hotels in France?

    2. We were in an hotel the other day and it included a buffet breakfast. They had eggs, you could either boil it or the French style oeuf à la coque (half boiled egg put in a special holder, you break the shell of the top part, and dip in with some bread sticks). No scrumble egg though. I have not seen salmon or green salade as breakfast.

    3. Thanks for your reply. Other than bread and eggs in the buffet breakfast, what other food are there in the buffet since there is no salmon or green salad? What about cafes in France? What do they serve for breakfast? Any pastries?
