Localised Food

The menu

It says this is localised Taiwanese food..

..so the tagline M Origin

I have eaten very delicious braised beef with tendons in the meat like shown in the above picture in Taiwan so I was very tempted to order the above but I was afraid the beef will not be like that so I did not take the risk but ordered something else.

I ordered the above instead for MYR8.90+ 6% GST = MYR9.45 - the thick sauce has hidden the noodles.

Here are the noodles. There were tiny pieces of hard bits in the sauce so I had to eat carefully and avoid biting on them. I suspect those are bits of clove spice or aniseed that was chopped up and mixed into the sauce. The sauce is a bit spicy.

Spicy Stewed Dry Ramen. The chinese characters state Zha Jiang Mian (炸酱面) meaning “Fried Sauce Noodle". The main ingredient in the sauce is soy bean paste (tauchu).

    1. Yeah!!! Made it! I was saying that the menu looks like a recipe book...and there is a place in Sabah that serves beef noodles with huge slabs of beet like that - we said they're like beef steaks...but not my favourite - I prefer the one at Kah Hiong. They have an outlet at Puchong now, also in Brunei, can go give it a try. Very nice, the KK one.

    3. Why don't you like those thicker beef meat with tendon? They are braised until very soft.

    4. It's the overall taste that did not appeal to me, a bit towards Taiwan style...but neither here nor there. Very popular, a lot of people like it, the huge chunks of beef steaks are the main appeal, perhaps...but no, not my favourite.

    5. I guess you don't like the spices that they use to braise the beef and to boil the soup into a dark colour.

  5. I'm surprised you ordered this as I remember you saying you don't like your food with sauce.

    1. You are right. I don't. This is one instance where I eat to live so I chose the noodle item with the lowest price and higher value from the menu which turned out to be this.

  12. I avoid Little Taiwan now coz the one in Avenue K isn't good. Probably other outlets are better.
