We went to Dengkil, a small town 45km from KL to visit this shop.
The bao 's' were kept in these large bamboo steamer baskets.
Good prices - Big Bao MYR3, Char Siew Bao/BBQ Pork Bao MYR1.70 and MYR1.50 each for Vege Bao, Red Bean Bao, Peanut Bao, Kaya Bao and Coconut Bao.
We bought many Bao as takeaways. This is the Char Siew Bao. The texture of the Bao is soft and somewhat dense which I like. The red bean bao tastes very nice too.
Hi Mun, from the last photo, the char siew bao looks tasty and yummy. Yums, yums!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is tasty!
Deleteyum yum peng leng jeng
ReplyDeletePeng Leng Jeng is so right!
DeleteOnce in a while, I like to eat Bao especially Big Bao, those juicy type
ReplyDeleteWe bought the Big Bao too.
DeleteI'd like to try the red bean.
ReplyDeleteYou like red bean too?
DeleteDengkil? Didn't know they have nice paos there! Been to the seafood restaurant at the corner at least four or five times now.

Oh so you are very familiar with Dengkil. Thanks for the recommendation.
DeleteThe char siew pao looks like not much liew.. But if the pao is soft and fresh, then I don't mind more pao and less liew actually.. I like "sang yok" and char siew the most.. And maybe "choy pao", inside got ju hu char, nice..
ReplyDeleteYou are right, the choy pao has got ju hu char inside. Liew is enough la for the char siew pao.
DeleteI like char siew paus. Can have 2 of these!!
ReplyDeleteEat a red bean bao as dessert instead of 2 char siew paos mah!
Deleteoh all the way to Dengkil just for the pao?? the price is reasonable and the char siew bao looks good, no photo of the red bean pao??
ReplyDeleteWe so happen to go there on an errand so went to buy baos also. Didn't post tthe photo of the red bean pao.
DeleteWow...you would go all the way just for paos! I'd be too lazy to travel that distance unless they have some dim sum to go with it ;) Anyway I like my pao with more char siew filling but for the price of RM1.70, that amount of liew is alright.
ReplyDeleteWe so happen to be near the area so went there to buy baos. They sell lo mai kai also. Yes I agree with you that for the price the liew is ok.
DeleteAmazing!!! You fly everywhere just to eat and yums!
ReplyDeleteI have been to Dengkil several times for makan but no one told me about this bao shop.
I love baos and will look out for it.
Yes, go look for it when you go there the next time.
DeleteThe bao skin, too thick... me no like thick skinned baos, regardless of how soft the skins are...
ReplyDeleteI think you can only eat Xiiao Long Bao la in this case since you want thin skin and more fillings.
DeleteNo lah, I like normal baos too, but not with super thick skins...
DeleteBut this skin is like normal baos lah, not that thick, just that the liew is a bit less than others.
DeleteCan buy more and freeze for future noms :)
ReplyDeleteThat's an idea!
DeleteWah a specialised pao shop.
ReplyDeleteSigh I wish I lived near to you. Then everywhere you go, can tapao back sample for me. Heheheeee.
Hahaha, that's a good one.
DeleteI like dimsum so much I can survive with it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis pao shop looks interesting. Thanks for sharing your dining experience.
You are welcome!
Delete45km away...that's super far~~~ but just to visit this shop then go back??
ReplyDeleteOf course not lah. Went to do an errand so buy paos also.
Deletesteamed siopao is quite popular here too especially the pork one but the authentic ones can be found in China Town
ReplyDeleteHow are the authentic ones different from what you usually get?
DeleteI have been going to this family shop for over 40 years. It is the best of the best.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Dennis. I live in Florida. I love coming to this shop when I visit Dengkil. It is the Icon of Dengkil The best Pao in all Malaysia
