Minute 150g

Bearnaise Minute Steak 150g with side salad and fries at MYR 25+ (6% SST = MYR 26.5 nett). If you want to know what Bearnaise Sauce is, please refer to the wiki article here. For this price, I do not expect much of it. Just that I would prefer the beef taste to be stronger.

A cup of Cappuccino for my friend at MYR 10+ (MYR 10.60 nett). This is illy coffee so it tastes good. We just do not like the saucer for the cup because it has a protruding inner middle circle where the cup should be placed so we had to be very exact when placing the cup on that spot or else the coffee would be spilled.

The "Food Court" for Jaya Grocer is now known as "The Grocers Canteen" instead of El Fresco.

If one prefers black pepper sauce or mushroom sauce, one needs to pay an extra MYR 4.50+ (MYR 4.77 nett).

Royce

Bought a box of this bitter chocolate from Royce, The Garden Mall at MYR 52 nett.

After removing the outer cardboard box, there is an inner plastic box.

There are 20 pieces of chocolate inside the plastic case. They are coated with chocolate powder.

Side view. The chocolate is not that sweet and the texture is smooth and very fine. Perfect to be given as gifts to those who like bitter chocolates with a luxury feel to it.

** Xmas Decor 2018**

To view a larger image please refer to the previous post. The theme for Xmas 2018 at One Utama this year is "A Glistening Christmas".  Glistening is right, as it sparkles so much that I could not even keep my eyes open when looking at the metallic silver structures.

Last year, the decor is all white clouds and snow, this year, it is all metallic silver! Which one do you prefer?

Zebra strips flooring?

On each structure is a silver star.

Many people are seen taking photos.

Top view. Do you like the decor this year?

Bunches of silver threads hanging around.

Another variation of this year's decor.

*******************************************************************
Today is day 15 of a lunar month so we will be having vegetarian lunch at The Good Co.

During our last visit there I ordered a cup of Healthy Organic Nasi Lemak at MYR 15.90 nett. Can you see the layers? From the bottom to top - millet (acting as rice), roasted peanuts, tempeh, cherry tomatoes, slices of cucumber (kyuri), hard boiled egg, assorted salad leaves and a small container of healthy sambal that tastes like sweetish peanut sauce (those satay dips).

In the menu, the rice is blue in colour. The millet served to me that day tastes like their healthy chicken millet (acting as rice). Instead of having coconut oil taste, the millet tastes like chicken rice but I am ok with it because the millet is tasty.

I did not pour the healthy sambal into the cup. Instead I gave it to my friend and just ate the healthy nasi lemak as it is. After finishing the salad leaves, I can see the 4 quarters of a hard boiled egg and the layer of cucumber slices.

Then it was a layer of tempeh, roasted peanuts and cherry tomatoes.

At last I reached the bottom layer which is the millet (chicken rice) layer. The portion was large so I shared half of the millet with my friend.

Total Bill: MYR 105.50 nett for 4 pax so on average it was MYR 26.375 nett per pax.

Hogan Jaya

Chicken Drumstick in a Bun at MYR 6.90+ (6% SST = MYR 7.31 nett). Sounds fun to eat so bought two to try.

The end of the chicken drumstick is wrapped in aluminium foil and it juts out from the bun. You can also see the drumstick from the other end of the bun. It is nice as the bun tastes of herbs, the chicken drumstick meat is tender and you know that it is chicken meat that you are getting since a whole complete drumstick on the bone is in the bun.

10% off if you are holding some specific loyalty cards such as Parkson card.

Hogan Bakery at Jaya Shopping Centre. Looks like I have been to only 3 Hogan branches including this one.

WG Oriental Bowl

2 big prawns, green beans, mushrooms, one braised egg, a small portion of rice and a cup of hot chrysanthemum drink at MYR 18.50 nett. I managed to finish all including the drink by pushing on.

My friend had the same dish but hers was the value meal so she gets to choose a soup from the soup menu. Oriental Bowl is famous for their soup but I have no stomach space for soup so I did not choose the value meal.

Entrance - Oriental Bowl is located on the 1st Floor so we need to walk up two flights of steps.

Tarbush Sunway Pyramid

My friend and I like to eat middle-eastern cuisine, especially lamb because we like the taste of the spices that go well with lamb. So far, we have eaten:
1. Middle Eastern Medley (Lamb Shank) at Serai, PJ;
2. Roasted lamb and tabbouleh salad at Dandy Restaurant at Arena Curve, Penang;
3. Hummus and Lamb Rice at Queensbay Mall Food Court in Penang and
4. Lamb Kabsa rice and Lamb Madggod rice at Lambogi, Damansara Uptown, PJ.

This time we decided to be adventurous and try some new dishes.

Both of us shared this dish - Shakriya Lamb at MYR 37++ (10% service charge, 6% SST = MYR 42.92 nett) - Lamb Shank cooked in herbs, yogurt and served with rice. The roasted almonds are crunchy and go well with the rice and savoury yogurt.

The lamb shank is huge and has a lot of tender fresh meat with the nice lamb taste. We did not expect to like the savoury yogurt but we were blown away when we ate it, we like it a lot - it is not too thick and not too diluted, it smells strongly of milk but not cloying. We consider it light without being foamy and is robust enough in taste and texture.

We knew that we would not be able to finish the yogurt so we put some aside before eating to bring home for dinner. Our siblings at home who do not like dairy products, cannot stand the smell of the yogurt - too milky they say. Would you like to try this dish?

Wara Ainab - MYR 15++ (MYR 17.40 nett) - Rice wrapped with pickled wine leaves and shaped into rolls. They are very appetising because of the sourish vinegar taste which I like in addition to the fragrant herbs.

Total price for 2 pax: MYR 60.30 nett. We must remember to ask for complimentary bread next time since it is not on the menu.

Appetiser section. We will try Hommus meat next time and we may still order Wara Ainab.

We took a chance and ordered the Shakriya lamb from this section of the menu. Looking at the photo which is not that attractive, would you dare to try this dish if you have not eaten it before?

WG Alexis The Gardens

My friend wanted to eat western food for lunch and since Italiannies at The Gardens Mall is closed for renovation, I suggested Alexis to her and she agreed since both of us have never been there but have heard a lot about this restaurant that is well known for its delicious tiramisu cake.

Looking through the one-page menu, I decided on the lobster roll at MYR42++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 48.72 nett). The roll was not that big so I could finish it at one go. I also ate all the coleslaw with the mayonnaise vinegar dressing but kept the fries for dinner. The only other time that I ate a lobster roll was in 2016 at Pince & Pints, Bangsar Baru.

I like that I can detect chunks of lobster meat in the roll. The mayonnaise sauce tastes creamy and well seasoned with salt and pepper. As I usually don't eat mayonnaise, I guess I am not used to eating flavourful food because after this meal, I was very, very thirsty the whole day and drank many glasses of water to try to quench my thirst but this won't hold me back from trying lobster rolls at other places. I don't think we will be back here for our regular lunch unless it is for a celebration because the prices here are on the higher end as befitting this kind of place.

My friend ordered fish and chips at MYR39++ (MYR45.24). The menu states the fish as being dory but my friend said it is ok. I did not taste her fish so I cannot comment on it but I won't be ordering it to try as I have banned dory fish from my food list. She could not finish her fries so she requested it to be packed for her to take away which they obliged. Both of us did not order any drinks since two glasses of water are provided foc.

I noticed that the table next to us is having a plate of seared chunks of sashimi tuna (deep red in colour with deep brown seared lines), lots of haricot vert (french beans), kalamata olives and one soft boiled egg. I then looked up this dish on the menu to see that it is Salad Nicoise priced at about MYR34++ and I feel that I would not like a salad made up of mainly french beans because it does not look appetising. To me, a salad should consist of a variety of  leafy vegetables and not just one type of beans. Perhaps it is just my misconception. I then searched online for more information about Salad Nicoise and this is what I found.

Alexis at The Gardens Mall. They are all ready for Christmas - can you spot the Christmas tree? They were attentive and friendly so it was a pleasant visit despite the hole in our pockets.
