No meat

I can't afford to eat at vegetarian specialty eateries so what I do is just select vegetable dishes from the chap fan (mixed rice) stall. The above are my favourite vegetable dishes: stir fry yin choy (amaranth greens); cai (vegetarian) dish - beancurd puffs (tofu pok) stir fried with tong hoon, chinese cabbage, black fungus; stir fry chinese mustard greens (Kai Choy in Cantonese) with carrots and cauliflower. Very tasty and best of all, the price is MYR4.70 nett only. What are your favourite vegetable dishes?

  1. true, vegetarian specialty eateries can be expensive while vegetarian dishes at non-vegetarian eateries are relatively cheaper.. and most importantly, they do not have (that many) "fake meat" than in specialty eateries..

    1. Some fake meat are made.from the stalks of mushrooms so they are ok, do not taste that fake.

  2. Yes, those vegan places are very expensive, I hear. That is why I have never bothered to check them out. Worse would be those organic healthy-eating places, even more expensive. Everything has its price, I guess. :(

  3. I do exactly the same thing. I pick vegetable dishes in zhap fan stalls rather than go for the vegetarian stalls. Most of the time, the food tastes better and less oily. And yes, cheaper.

  8. Vegetarian outlets could be very expensive. I used to eat in one when I worked in my 1st employment.

My favourite vegetable dishes are midin, cangkuk manis and kangkung.

  12. Whenever I head to any mixed rice shops, my eyes would scout for the white cauliflowers first. It is my most favourite vegetable and the chef must know how to fry them right. LOL
