For a change, we ordered the deep fried pepper and salt prawns. Can't see the prawns from this angle.
This angle is much better. I find this dish too salty for me. Won't be ordering this again.
Can't go wrong with the beef noodles
This is some sort of seafood noodles. Taste quite nice. I am not sure whether or not the plate of herbs next to it is for this seafood noodles or not.
Glass Roll - a bit too dry and hard so won't be ordering this again also
Vietnam Kitchen at One Utama
Beef noodles look really good!
ReplyDeleteOne of the better ones.
DeleteDon't really fancy Vietnam food
ReplyDeleteWhy not?
DeleteOooo, when I see the title, I thought you're having pig stomach soup.. The beef noodles and seafood noodles look very good, soup looks very flavourful too..
ReplyDeleteWhat a deceptive title eh?
DeleteThe moment I saw the first dish, I recognised it. I was surprised you'd order that dish when you have such a low tolerance for salt.

It proved too salty for me too.
I wanted to eat prawns and it is the only dish with prawns that look nice enough in the menu. I can't believe both outlets cook the dish until too salty so it must be the recipe that calls for too much salt.
DeleteI'll take note not to order the prawns. I avoid taking food that is too salty.
ReplyDeleteGood to avoid salty food.
DeleteThe plate of herbs.. I think they are beansprouts and basil leaves? I like the smell of basil leaves so I put them a lot into the beef soup when I eat in Viet restaurant..
ReplyDeleteI believe that you are right.
DeleteI believe those are Vietnamese mint. The leaves of Thai basil, if I'm correct, has a bit of a jagged edge.
DeleteWow! You are good!
DeleteThis place used to be the bomb when it started in SS2. I'm not too keen on this 1u outlet.
ReplyDeleteThe beef noodle is still tasty.
DeleteOh no...I like the glass roll. Too bad it was not up to par. I think I came here twice and never went back considering there are better ones.hahah
ReplyDeleteWhich is your favourite Vietnamese restaurant?
Deleteprobably the deep fried pepper and salt prawns will be better if go with rice than eating them alone?? anyway, the pho looks good.. :)
ReplyDeleteQuite true but then will end up eating lots of rice.
DeleteDon't really fancy Vietnamese cuisine. The only thing I like is their pho, although I only eat them in the US as I don't eat beef in Malaysia. :P
ReplyDeleteBut ah, that salt and pepper prawns, is that really Vietnamese food? Don't recall seeing such a dish in the menus in all the Vietnamese restaurants I went to in the US..
Maybe not.
DeletePrawns! My favorite! Too bad the dish you ordered is too salty.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite too!
DeleteAh...beef noodles whenever I go for Vietnamese food and they always serve with the plate of bean sprout and basil leaves. Too bad the prawns and glass roll were a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteToo bad.
DeleteLooks like some of the food they still have to work hard on, hope they can improve some when you next visit...
ReplyDeleteI think maybe some customers like the dishes this way.
DeleteOMG. Prawns! So tasty! I miss them so much! I have to eat ones too!
ReplyDeleteOh so you like prawns too!
Deletejust by the looks definitely looks too salty and dry. am not very fancy vietnam food yet.
ReplyDeleteLike rg says this dish may not be
DeleteVietnam food.
I love pepper and salty prawns. But not too salty or peppery. Just nice and did not overwhelming the sweetness of the prawns.
ReplyDeleteSweetness of prawns - that I like.
DeleteThis looks good! We've seen the sign before but never went in. I think we will try it next time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Mun! :)
Yl says she has been to this place so I guess you could have been there too.
DeleteOh, I remember this place! We've actually eaten here before. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHehehe so you have!
DeleteHave been there. I like the food there
ReplyDeleteTheir beef noodle tastes good.
DeleteI just had squid fried with salt & pepper at a local restaurant earlier, & it's real yummy! I really like this style of cooking :D
ReplyDeleteIf not too peppery and too salty, it would be super tasty.
DeleteOh yes! I remembered going there to eat and it was nice for me as I ate something else. Finally I might be making a visit to Vietnam for the first time soon to try their real cooking.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip there!
