He eats them regularly because he says they help his throat a lot, be it sore throat or phlegm.
Online says:
Eight Immortals Fruit (八仙果 Baxian Guo)– It’s a pulp made of dried orange peels and various herbs. The pulp is stuffed into fresh pomelo, grapefruit or bergamot skin (it really does look like a fruit – thus the name). Later it’s being dried and cut into pieces. Despite being sold in candy shops, it is actually considered to be a traditional Chinese medicine (which I didn’t know when buying it). It’s mostly used to treat cough and sore throat, as well as a remedy for nausea and indigestion. According to various descriptions, you shouldn’t eat more than 5-6 pieces a day though, since with higher doses it might cause diarrhoea (and believe me – it does).

Item 1 is a pure butter cake. I sure have high expectations of this cake so I hope I won't be disappointed when I eat it later.
He ate one egg tart immediately when we were back home and we're quite disappointed that the egg tart doesn't taste as good as the egg tarts from Starling Mall and MyTown branches.
He also bought these two crispy salted egg custard buns because he knows that I like to eat salted egg yolk custard buns. We ate one each.
Taste like doughnuts due to it being deep fried. He feels that it is a bit too oily but I am ok with it.
6 pm - he ate all the remaining rice, meat, bean curd sheets and bkt soup from the previous day as his dinner. I just ate a small piece of meat and one piece of bean curd sheet because I am still full from lunch where I ate all the remaining
12.08 noon - pass by Paul so stop and buy two items. No stomach space to eat them so they are in the fridge. I think the tomato olive bread has a lot of olive oil in it until the oil seeped through the paper bag.

While I was buying the gift for my friend, he went to Nam Heong to buy his favourite egg tarts as takeaway.

No, I don't want to see those egg tarts. Don't want to talk about them. Sh*t my drool is coming out... I've been eating 80% vegetables, 18% chicken breast/fish fillet, 2% rice since last Wednesday, going back to Penang tomorrow but my mom will stay with me until end of the month so... >.<
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, has takeaway packaging charges been a thing in KL for long? In Penang, I think this only started to become a thing in certain eateries since last year MCO started. Even when I go to the shop to tapao myself, they refuse to take my containers apparently due to SOP, and insist to charge me for their plastic containers. That became a major annoyance to me.
Your mother is really on a mission to ensure you are eating healthy! And she is on target! 👍Ah, so your mother going with you to Penang confirms that your new place is in penang. Some shops here don't charge for packaging separately. It is like that even before mco, the shops that charge for packaging. Ya, by right, sop cannot use your containers cos your containers are not disinfected by them so cannot be sure it is safe. So no more being annoy by this since you will be eating home cooked food in penang also until your mother returns to kl.
DeleteI like Nam Being egg tart. Tasted it once, we have an outlet here.
ReplyDeleteUsually all the Chinese herbs or dried fruits etc, my man buy. There is one, like orange peel, he said good for throat.
Drink salted plum drink is good for throat. My hubby keeps asking me take it once a day, but I lazy. Haha.
Ah, u like nam Heong egg tarts too. 👍yes, orange peel is good for throat. If no danger of high blood pressure then can drink salted plum drink daily cos salt is the culprit for high blood pressure.
DeleteI haven't tried this preserved ba xian guo. For sore throat, I usually gargle with salt water and drink apple cider vinegar with honey water.
ReplyDeleteOh, he eats this ba Xian Guo to keep his mouth moist so he doesn't eat it for sore throat.
DeleteLong time since i last had Nam Heung. I have never tried their pastries before.
ReplyDeleteNot sure whether or not you will like their pastries since you prefer savoury food than sweet food.
DeleteThe ba xian guo sounds like will be very good for sore throats and coughs.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have begun venturing out from home.
And also for keeping the mouth from drying out. Hahaha once in a blue moon only will go out still. 😅
DeleteThe olive bread looks so good. Never tried bun with salted egg. Curious about pendant wink*wink* :)
ReplyDeleteYes the olive bread is nice but a bit salty. Do you bake your own bread? You can try the steamed egg yolk custard buns at the halal dolly dim sum. They have many branches. A review of dolly dim sum is here:
