Penang Koay Teow Kitchen

Update: 22 Aug 2016 (Monday) - This eatery is no longer operating at this location. I have no idea where it is located now.

Duck Egg Koay Teow - MYR8.50 nett - there are two big prawns and plenty of deep fried pork lard (chu yau char) so definitely can order this again but will request for the pork lard to be omitted since I don't eat them.
Duck Koay Teow Soup - MYR7.50 nett - my spouse feels that the koay teow noodle is too soft but the taste is good with deep fried garlic bits in the soup.

 Clean and tidy eatery

Penang Koay Teow Kitchen, 19-G, Jalan Kuchai Lama Maju 6, Jalan Kuchai Lama, 58200 KL. Will be back to try the other items. Closed on Wednesday.

  1. The fried noodle looks good and not oily but I would ask for chicken egg. Have tried the duck egg ones but the smell is too strong for me. Duck noodle looks yummy.

  2. i wonder at what time you went there?? seems there wasn't any customer in that restaurant, or just yet?? would be more worth if one patronise on weekdays during lunch time huh, the set is just only RM7.50 for a noodle and a drink.. the ala carte menu is already more expensive than the set..

haha.. i will not ask for no pork lard.. i believe the oil adds aroma and makes the food taste nicer, but of course i will just leave the "pork crouton" untouched..

    1. Pork crouton - that is such a nice way of putting it. Early dinner at around 5pm. If you can make it there for weekday lunch, the set price is definitely better.

Thank you for your comment! I just realized that I posted only one photo of my pasta... Uploaded more few minutes ago, writing about it in case you'd like to see the rest! Have a wonderful week!

    1. Wow, you are so pro because you are right, CKT with duck egg is priced higher than the usual CKT with chicken eggs.

    1. I have eaten Penang CKT before and to my surprise I don't quite like the hor fun they use - too slippery.

  7. Where's the duck in the duck kuey teow soup? I see only pork balls, fish balls and fish cake...and maybe one pc of duck? ;D

    1. I think there are only 3 slices of duck only, hidden from view.

  8. Lol. I were thinking of having Penang Char Kuaw Tiaw for dinner today and here you are with your post. Haha.

The duck kuaw tiaw soup reminded me of the time I had it in Bangkok. Tasty and very flavourish soup.

  10. Very nice! What a pity you don't like the chu yau char, that's one of the best (unhealthiest) parts!
